The Provo River Parkway is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Y Mountain Trail is a dog-friendly hiking path in Provo, UT. It overlooks the town of Provo and is well worth the effort it takes to get there. The trail to get to it climbs 980 ft and is 1.2 miles long. It is a dirt trail with 13 switchbacks, fairly steep, but not too difficult for small children and dogs.
