Smoky Mountain River Rat offers a dog-friendly river tubing adventure on the beautiful Little River in Townsend, TN. Tubing with Fido is offered at Outpost A only, and dogs under 50 lbs are accepted. The purchase of a Dog Pass includes both a dog tube and a tether rental to connect their tube to yours. Fido must be leashed, comfortable in the water, and should be able to swim with ease. Dogs over 50 lbs are discouraged due to the risk of popping tubes. ***Be sure to bring your own doggy life jackets as they're not provided.***

The General Store at Apple Valley Mountain Village in Townsend, TN is dog friendly! This popular country store offers 10,000 items to tourists looking for a piece of The Great Smoky Mountains to take home. Leashed dogs are welcome inside to peruse the selection of jams, jellies, preserves, honey butters and homemade fudge. There are also games, shirts, toys and hundreds of stuffed animals on display. Fido won't be left out while you're shopping, they even have an entire dog and pet section. Once you've found just the right souvenir, step outside and walk Fido along the 10-mile bike path that’s winds through the little mountain town, circles under the highway and ends up back at the store.

Located approximately 27 miles outside of Gatlinburg, near the town of Townsend, TN, this scenic road allows visitors an opportunity to sightsee at a leisurely pace.
