The area is open year-round during regular park hours every day of the week from 6am to 8pm, except Tuesdays from 5am to 9pm for routine maintenance.

The park is also home to The Theatre in the Park, Shawnee Mission Park Beach, and Shawnee Mission Park Marina. In season, there are canoes, pedal boats, and fishing boats available for rent at the marina.
