Chesapeake City Park Chesapeake City Park is a pet-friendly community hub in Virginia. Fido is welcome to join you as you explore this 90-acre site filled with reforested pine trees. Activities with your furry friend include a walking trail, picnic tables and two dog parks. See Details
Central Park Central Park is a pet-friendly area in Cape Charles, VA, offering a short paved path for walks with Fido. Dogs must be leashed while on the pathway and grassy central space, but are not permitted in the playground or on sports courts. Non-profit organization Citizens for Central Park sponsor 12 free summer concerts from mid-June to mid-September. See Details
Magothy Bay State Natural Area Preserve Magothy Bay State Natural Area Preserve in Cape Charles, VA is dog friendly. Leashed dogs are permitted to join you on the 2-mile loop trail which is accessed via a parking area at 4829 Bulls Dr. The preserve provides an ideal habitat for a variety of coastal wildlife species, and the trail itself offers views of Cape Charles Lighthouse located on Smith Island. The Appalachian Trail The Appalachian Trail is a pet-friendly hike in Markham, VA. Although the address we've listed is in Virginia, you can access the trail from numerous spots along the way. The path leads from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine, totaling 2,181 miles. Dogs are prohibited from the following sections of the AT: The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Bear Mountain State Park Trailside Museum, and Zoo and Baxter State Park. See Details

Occoneechee State Park Dog-friendly Occoneechee State Park occupies 2,700 acres of pristine land on Buggs Island in Clarksville, VA. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park, in campgrounds, and are invited to stay in rental cabins for an additional fee. Please clean up after your pets and make sure Fido is supervised at all times. Owners should carry proof of a rabies vaccination for their dogs. Occoneechee State Park offers visitors 14.7 miles of trails to hike or bike with your four-legged companion. If your best friend prefers open water, plan to kayak around John H. Kerr Reservoir. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in King George! McAfee Knob McAfee Knob is pet-friendly. One of the East Coast’s most popular hikes and one of the most photographed destinations on the Appalachian Trail, this is a must-visit for you and your outbound hound. Park at Catawba Mountain and hike just over 3,000 feet to the top of the famous overhanging rock at the top. When you reach the unique geological formation, you’ll be greeted by 270-degree views of the luscious valley and a picture perfect place to cherish forever.
