Paws for a Cause

Dog friendly outdoor festival. There will be contests, raffles, exotic animals to have your picture taken with, face painter, craft vendors, food vendors and lots of fun! More than 35 vendors will set up their wares under the “big top” and throughout Greenbrier’s usual tranquil pastures. A cacophony of live exotics ranging from macaws, foxes, reptiles, gators, and more will be surely heard. Apopka’s own K-9 Unit, led by Sgt. Robert Hall at noon, will demonstrate their abilities. Doggie contests and raffles will be held. We hear there is an LCD HDTV, the newest NetBook Computer and a Pressure Washer among some of the items! In spite of the restraining economy, many donations have been made to the 3 shelters that will benefit from these efforts: Lake County Animal Services in Astatula, Pet Rescue by Judy in Seminole and Kindred Spirit Sanctuary in Ocala. Adoptions will also be held at the event and several local Veterinary Hospitals will be on hand to lend their expertise! There will be a special dedication for the newly built Sunset Pavilion in Memory of all those Pets that have passed, and a Blessing of The Pets by Father Nick O’Brien at 9:30am. Pet food, toys, blankets, towels and any pet item may be donated that day (receive a $1.00 off the Bar-B-Q) in hopes of filling the Greenbrier Trailer. A great cause, a great time!
