Description

. This evening, learn about the working breeds that originated in Germany and how their characteristics define their role. For example, the Great Danes’ size makes them effective guard dogs; dachshunds’ long bodies and short legs help them burrow into narrow tunnels after vermin; poodles’ (yes, poodles) waterproof coats make them great water dogs. From German shepherds to short-haired pointers to Doberman pinschers, German dogs have been known to work hard for their kibble. 25 show dogs will be presented at this program! Prize-winning representatives of several German breeds—including such favorites in the U.S. as shepherds, dachshunds, poodles, boxers, and miniature schnauzers—will be brought on stage as David Frei explains just what it is about the breeds—from conformation to temperament to work ethic—that makes them unique.
