Description

With the help of nationally known veterinarians such as Dr. Christina Chambreau (2010 speaker), Dr. Martin Goldstein (2011 speaker), and Dr. Ronald Schultz in 2012, the Healthy Dog Project continues the mission of assisting the community at large with detailed, scientific information on canine health issues such as vaccination protocols, species appropriate diet, topical pesticide usage, Lyme disease, and the newest integrative approaches in veterinary medicine. Dr. Schultz is the principal investigator for the Rabies Challenge Fund and comes to us from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. About the Rabies Challenge Fund (RCF) Study The RCF vaccine research project addresses the duration of immunity conveyed by rabies vaccine, and is being performed by Dr. Ronald Schultz, Chairman of Pathobiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. If the Rabies Challenge Fund succeeds in raising funds to complete both the 5 and 7 year challenge studies, the second phase of the project will finance a study of the adjuvants used in veterinary vaccines, and establish a federal adverse reaction reporting system for rabies and other vaccines. About the Healthy Dog Project Proceeds from the Healthy Dog Project seminar(s) go directly to the Rabies Challenge Fund. The Rabies Challenge is working to determine the duration of immunity conveyed by Rabies vaccine. The goal is to extend the required interval for rabies boosters to 5 and then to 7 years. This project depends primarily upon grassroots gifts for funding the costs of conducting the requisite vaccine trials. Seminars are free and open to the public, although donations are strongly suggested. To register for this event click here healthydogproject@me.com and request registration in the subject line.
