Dog Events in Allerton, IA

This annual event features competitions, live music, a car show, cornhole tournament, food and beer vendors, a community parade and more. Register your pup for the annual Dog Parade, to be held Saturday morning! Pups must be leashed at all times.

The 0.6-mile parade is part of the Beaverdale Fall Festival weekend! The parade starts at Beaverdale Books and includes judging on creativity, theme, and presentation. Contestants compete in Best Overall, Best Dog & Owner Duo, and People’s Choice, with prizes from local vendors. Check-in and lineup will begin at 8:50 AM on Saturday, September 20th, in the Beaverdale Books parking lot at 2629 Beaver Avenue. The parade is rain or shine.

Each weekend, leashed dogs are welcome at this lively celebration! The event features national touring acts alongside beloved local performers. Attendees can enjoy a variety of entertainment, including live music, captivating shows, and a diverse array of vendors offering unique wares. There's a limit of one dog per person and pups must be leashed at all times. All animals must have proof of rabies vaccinations within three years (tags are sufficient).

You won't want to miss the chance to bring your pup for a walk on the beautiful grounds of the garden! This event requires your furry friends to remain on a non-retractable leash at all times, and humans must pick up their pet's waste and dispose of it properly. Pups are prohibited indoors or in flower beds, and they must remain on hard surfaces or turf. Dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccinations and registrations, and attendees will need to sign a waiver of liability online or in person.

Brown Dog Bakery invites all witches, wizards and their wonderful pups to join them for the official sorting ceremony to discover which house they belong to. Enjoy a photo booth, a Honeydukes treat station, a scavenger hunt, games and prizes, as well as special offers.

You and your four-legged friend are invited to take a healthy 5K run or walk through the beautiful Iowa Arboretum. Dogs will receive bandanas and goody bags! There's a maximum of two dogs per person and pups must be up to date on all vaccinations.

Leashed dogs can run or walk with their humans for either the 5K or 1-mile race with all proceeds benefitting local rescue animals. This run will not be professionally timed and will occur rain or shine. Please note that you may bring multiple dogs when signing up as a runner and dog team. The event is rain or shine.

Bring your furry friend to Brown Dog Bakery to celebrate the fall season! There'll be mini pies, pup cups and a variety of treats for dogs. Pet parents can enjoy apple cider and watch their dogs pose at the photo booth. It’s a fun day for everyone!
