As part of the Gemüetlichkeit (goodwill) Games at McKinney Oktoberfest, Weenie Dogs (Dachshunds) and Wannabe Weenie Dogs (all other breeds) are invited to compete in the races to be crowned Top Dog! The races will be held in the competition area on East Louisiana Street.

Leashed dogs are welcome at this German-themed festival where folks don lederhosen and enjoy authentic German food, domestic and imported beers, live music, and carnival games including the Weenie Dog Races & Wannabe Weenie Dog Races! The celebration spans multiple blocks and offers something for everyone, from traditional fare and fun to festive entertainment.

This race began as a way for Poppy’s devoted owner to give back after her puppy survived Parvo with the help of a veterinary assistance program. This dog-friendly adoption event and fundraiser features adoptable pups from Texas Husky Rescue, craft beer and co-branded pint glasses. Each pint glass includes a beer, with $5 from every $12.95 purchase benefiting Texas Husky Rescue. Guests can enjoy a family-friendly afternoon while meeting dogs in need of homes and supporting the rescue’s lifesaving work.

The event takes place on Friday from 4 PM until 11 PM, on Saturday from 10 AM until 11 PM, and on Sunday from 12 PM until 7 PM.

Start the New Year with a hike at Isle du Bois! Join one or all three hikes for the Tri-Park-A-Thon. Dogs are welcome on secure leashes, and if they're vaccinated and socialized. Meet at the Boat Ramp parking lot for a moderate, 2-mile hike on the Randy Bell Scenic Trail. Bring water, trail shoes and dress for the weather.
