Savannah Wiener Dog Races

Savannah Wiener Dog Races

If you have a Wiener or almost Wiener dog, you cannot miss this annual event! All Dachshunds will be grouped by weight and must be less than 25 lbs to participate. In addition to racing, there will be other activities like a Doggy Parade and Costume Contest! Dachshund-mix dogs may race in special “Almost Wiener” heat, but are ineligible for the grand prize trophy run. Other breeds are ineligible to race, but are welcome to come cheer on their fur friends! Registered dogs need to check in at the registration desk between 9 AM – 10:45 AM.

This annual event takes place in the historic and Starland districts of Savannah and attracts over 1,000 participants with their furry friends each year. Line up along Savannah's riverfront to watch over 40 boats decorated in holiday cheer parade down the Savannah River! The parade will be led by the Georgia Queen Riverboat and begin at the Eastern Wharf Dock at the Thompson Savannah Hotel. After passing the panel of judges at the Eastern Wharf Park, the Captains will continue down the river past River Street and Plant Riverside District, ending back at the Eastern Wharf Dock.
