  Definitely dog friendly!

  Room was clean, fresh-smelling. Furniture was shabby, but functional, all compensated by proximity to the beach. Enjoyed our (me & pup) stay immensely, though excessively noisy in the pm due to being in the local airport flight path, and other residents’ partying.

  Overall nice stay

  Great pet-friendly hotel that is right in front of the dog beach and has an enclosed area for the dogs to walk and do their business. The staff are very knowledgeable about pet friendly places in the area and are super friendly. I would stay here again. The only reason I didn’t give 5 bones is the walls are thin so you hear everything and the rooms are very dated and need some love. Parking is tricky and lot is small.

  Happy dogs, great location!

  Our dog room was nicely stocked with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The artificial grass area outside the patio was so convenient to have. Bedding was clean. And best of all, the close proximity to an awesome dog beach! Will stay again.

  Great location for dogs

  Super close to dog beach, room was clean and a good size. A couple of bowls/cups would have been a great addition but otherwise a great place to stay. Walking distance to off leash dog beach as well as shops and restaurants.

  Right on Dog Beach

  I’ve seen some bad reviews but this place is great. Keep in mind that this is specifically a dog friendly hotel, not a resort. It was clean and the hotel is right on the water. It was perfect for us. The dog wash station is perfect and the dog run is great. Our dog loved meeting another dogs outside and having a fenced in area. There are so many great dog friendly restaurants that are within walking distance.

  Great oceanfront doggy hotel

  We only stayed for one night. Our 2.5 year Boxer/Sharpei loved it! Hotel is super dog friendly. Obviously, there are rules/guidelines you have to follow for having a dog but if you have a well behaved dog it shouldn't be a problem. Our dog loved the front beach views, running green, proximity to Ocean Beach/Dog Beach. Right in the heart of all things Ocean Beach, walking distance to shops, beach, restaurant and more! We hope to come back!

  Choose carefully

  The hotel is old and run down. The room we has was filthy and smelled. Drywall was broken in spots. Dog run was nice. Guest above us walked and stomped all night so sleep was not very good and even for the dogs which decided to bark because there was so much noise from above. If you are looking for a good night sleep, don't book here. If you want to hang at the beach and not spend much time in the room I guess it would be OK. I was very disappointed.

  Great spot in San Diego!

  This has been the most dog-friendly hotel I've ever stayed at. Loved the location and just blocks from the dog beach. We had so much fun. I especially appreciated the doggy bath area and the enclosed dog run area. We look forward to booking again in the future. Heads up the hotel is older and furniture is a little outdated, but great service overall. I had asked for extra towels and pillows which they accommodated.

  Perfect location

  The room was perfect for me and my two dogs, with the patio allowing potty trips late at night. It was wonderful being able to walk to the dog beach and pet friendly restaurants. The office personnel were great. We will be back.

  Awesome spot

  I was in a studio room, which was very large. Plenty of room for me and my doggo. The grounds are landscaped with all kinds of succulents, cacti and palms. The location is awesome for you and your dog. The rear gate to the property opens right to the beach and is a couple of hundred yards from Dog Beach. There is also a sizable grassy area behind the hotel for your dog to run around in. The one drawback is that Ocean Beach is in the flight path of the airport. The noise isn't bad, but if your dog is sensitive to that, it could be a long stay. Remember, this is Ocean Beach which is a little less, uh, formal than say the Gaslamp Quarter or the Convention Center. It's a beach town and this is a beach hotel.

  Fantastic place

  This place is amazing. They had a fenced place for dogs in front of the dog beach. The place needs some love, but overall it was ideal. I will go back!

  Would stay again

  Overall my husband and I enjoyed our stay here over the weekend with our 2 pups! It was affordable, a decent location, and had an excellent perk of being next to the Original Dog Beach! Love that it had a dog wash station as well as the pet run right outside your room’s sliding back door! It was such a cute and convenient place to allow the dogs to run and play with supervision without having to leave the hotel.

  CONS: There was a strange smell upon entering the room (It was reminiscent of Nair hair removal cream if you’ve ever melt that). The curtains for your sliding glass door don’t quite cover all the glass easily and are easily moved by the pups. Would have been nice if it was one big heavy curtain that stretched the whole window and prevented them from looking out to see other dogs. The layout of the room was strange with the fridge and microwave pretty much in the bathroom. This was so strange to me and a bit bothersome. One of the queen beds is also right in front of the sliding door blocking it. Nothing that can’t be worked around, just strange layout decisions. Parking is limited thus they state only one car per room. This of course is fine but the lot is a bit small and cramped. Again not a big deal or anything, just something to know. The WiFi is horrible, one bar and is not in working order.

  Outside of that, the front desk staff was friendly and the room was clean, we would come back.

  Great location

  A great location and friendly staff. I loved that I could walk to the beach, the grassy area behind the hotel and the dog wash at the hotel! My only issue was being woken at night by maybe someone who left their dog in their room while they went out at night. And then them being super heavy footed on the ceilings. So maybe ear plugs or a noise machine next time but I definitely will stay again! And they had a fridge and a microwave so huge plus.

  It's all about the dogs!

  First floor is all tile, should have brought a dog bed. Outside the patio is an eight floor wide artificial turf running the full length of the hotel, great for playing with the neighbor dogs. Dog beach is just a few yards away. Luckily they have a dog wash for hosing off the sand that your dog will pick up romping in the ocean. Already booked a room for another trip.

  Very dog-centric hotel where the first floor rooms have a sliding door to a fenced in, turf covered area for dogs to do their business. Very convenient! The rooms themselves were pretty good to for the reasonable pricing. Recommended!

  Great location but run down

  Hotel location was great, right on the dog beach and cheap pet fee. But I can see why this hotel is only a 2 star hotel. It’s old, not very clean and super run down. Also when we got there we were told we did not book a “pet room” even though BringFido told us that was guaranteed in the email I got. Thankfully they had one available for us.

  Great Location if you have a dog

  It's located by the dog park and if you are there to take your dog then this is the place to be. The rooms needs remodeling and updating. But can't beat the location.

  Great location on the beach

  Our Huskies, Sasha and Kilo, highly recommend the Ocean Villa Inn. It's only a short walk on a nice path to the beach. They were a little disappointed that the room we wanted on the dog run wasn't available, but the Inn gave us a larger room with a kitchenette that made meal preparations easier. Dog Beach, right outside the hotel, is a great place for dogs to play. It's really wide and the ocean floor is really flat for about 50 years out. Gives plenty of room to run and play in the waves. This is definitely the place for dogs to stay & play in San Diego.

  Perfect for what we needed

  Great location. Easy walk to dog beach, dog bathing area, fenced area right out of our room! This is not a fancy place. Older hotel with thin walls so you can hear the people next to you but the ease of having the dog made up for it. This area also has lots of dog friendly restaurants.

  For the price we paid, I was expecting a nice hotel, not a mediocre motel. It has not been renovated in decades. I will not rely on BringFido's rating system again.

  Great for dogs

  The beach was fun for the dogs and the hotel was in a great location to the beach, but the area was just ok. The room was clean, but needed some updates. The staff were sweet and the dog bath was a nice touch that was truly appreciated. There was no welcome basket and we were lucky to have brought our own dog pillows, because the floor was hard for our old guy. All in all, it was good, but I wish the area was just a bit nicer and the pool had been open.

  This place is so close to the dog beach and you can walk to restaurants and shops that also love dogs. The staff is really friendly and treat your dog like a guest too. Nothing is fancy about this place but when you spend all your time at the beach you don't need fancy.

  Awesome with dogs

  Not only is this just dog friendly, the ENTIRE first floor backs up to a shared dog run. Just open the sliding door and the kids are out playing. AWESOME!

  If I weren’t traveling with the dogs it would just be a mid-century motel by the beach.

  The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Having the dog baths in the complex were very helpful after playing in the water and sand at the adjacent dog beach.

  We’ll Definately be back, often.

  Location can’t be beat!

  The room may be bare bones, but to be able to bring all your furry friends and be just steps from Ocean Beach is too good to miss. The reception staff we dealt with were all super nice and accommodating, and we didn’t mind the discontinuation of daily housekeeping due to Covid at all. Very nice to have a fridge, micro and coffee maker as well.

  Great location & definately dog friendly

  It was quiet & clean but the shower in rm 15 needs repair/replacement. I only felt safe by wearing my sandals while showering. Free internet was really bad.
  The rates are lower but by the time you add parking taxes & internet fee, you could of stayed in a nicer place for the cost

  Great location, but place us showing wear & tear

  Clean but the shower really needed replacement!! For the winter rate i could tolerate but no way would i pay $ 200 for summer rate and be ok with a shower like that. Free internet extremely slow; not happy with option to buy faster internet.

  Extremely rude guests above us

  Our stay was ruined by a group of drunk frat bois/karens stomping around above us, dragging furniture across the floor at midnight, which worsened when we complained to the staff. To the hotels credit, I believe they were moved to another room. The ceiling/subfloor separating the levels is very thin and amplifies everything. The hotel as a whole is cute, but very dated. The beds are very squeaky and firm and the shower curtain was basically useless as it was installed too high. Everything seemed clean and the staff that we did encounter was friendly, but as mentioned above, the place as a whole is dated. The dog wash was a nice bonus. The two bone rating is for our experience as a whole, not the staff.

  The place is disgusting

  If I could give zero bones to this place I would. I have stayed here in the past and didn’t have any issues, so I figured I’d try again. We checked in and got to our room, which smelled musty and moldy. The bathroom was filthy and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week. I went to the front desk and asked if they could switch us to a different room. He said they were all booked for the night and they didn’t have any cleaning staff working at night to clean the room for me. So he gave me a bottle of sanitizer and some towels and told me I could clean the bathroom myself if I wanted to. SERIOUSLY!? Then he told me that if we wanted to book a room somewhere else he would understand and refund my card for the reservation.

  Convenient to Dog Beach

  We had a shaky start, they mistakenly gave away our room. After some back and forth they finally upgraded us to a one bedroom condo. The accommodations were basic but clean and quiet. There are 2 hotel choices in O. B. if traveling with pets Ocean Villa or Ocean Beach Inn. Ocean Villa is closer to the dog beach, Ocean Beach Inn is closer to bars and restaurants.

  By the Dog Beach

  The dogs had a great time at this very basic motel by the beach. A big plus is that well-behaved dogs can be left in the room by themselves. Also the patio for each room is a fenced-in shared dog run. The people conveniences are pretty bare-bones: lumpy mattresses and pillows, threadbare linens, small rooms, noisy air conditioner, but if you want to go to the Ocean Beach with your dogs, its perfect.

  Worked great

  The staff is absolutely the best. Very accommodating. Older hotel so you get that it won’t be updated and you have to duck your head on the stairs if your over 6’2”. Is definitely stay there again. I did not stay in a dog run room but plenty of places to walk your dog so it was not an issue. If the dog rooms would have had individual grass areas, I definitely would have.

  Great DOG location!!

  This little inn is nothing fancy but for the location and the special details for dogs is wonderful. The dog beach is right out back. A dog run on the first floor right outside your patio door is wonderful. Our pup had such a good time. Dog friendly places all around. We will definitely be back!!!

  Its all about the dogs!

  If I didn’t have dogs, I wouldn’t of stayed here. But I do, and it couldn’t of been more perfect of a place! I wasn’t looking for a fancy resort. I was looking for a place where my dogs could be dogs. Where I wouldn’t have to keep them quiet, on a leash, walk them constantly, or feel like I was being inconsiderate to other guests. This is that place! Our room had a patio with a shared dog run! There were a bunch of rooms that shared this grassy area where our dogs could be free! We all opened our patios and our dogs mingled, played, ran, wrestled, pooped, and just did what dogs do. A few dogs even walked into my room to say hello. It was awesome! Dog people are the best people! So everyone staying there was cool and chill! On the other side of the dog run, was the dog beach! You couldn’t get any closer to that beach! The Dog beach is doggy-Disneyland! It was the most fun our pups have ever had. After the beach you can wash your dog in the Dog Spa! YES, There is a place to wash all the sand off your dogs! There’s even shampoo, the water is warm, and there are towels (it’s the little things)!
  The room had a kitchen. The bathroom was nice. The floor was all tile which is so nice with dogs! It’s not fancy, it’s not updated, it’s not at all glamours.. but it’s PERFECT! It’s all about location and comfort. I will be staying here every time I come with my dogs! They loved it!! And the staff was so so friendly!!! Even though they had to limit contact, wear masks, and communicate through a little window (covid). They we’re so nice! I can’t wait to go back! Bring your dogs and finally enjoy a worry free, no stress vacation!

  Best Place To Stay With Dogs!

  THis is an older hotel but it’s very clean and has great amenities for the fur babies. Private beach access to the dog beach, no leashes required, so it’s like a giant dog park with an ocean. So much fun! Our dogs loved it. Great dog washing station with shampoo and towels! It’s clean, laid back and the staff couldn’t of be nicer. It’s not glamorous but it makes up for that in fun, the experience I had with my fur babies was priceless! I have never had a better vacation, just laying on the beach watching my dogs play and swim made my heart melt! I love you Ocean Villa Inn, we will be back very soon!!!!

  The best location for you and your pet

  Dog beach is a few steps away! Plant based fast food nearby for us vegans! 7/11 for snacks and coffee stand nearby for pick me ups! Moldy smell when you walk in but nothing our Febreeze spray couldn’t handle. Will definitely be back again!

  This is a great place if you and your dog like the beach. Tile flooring is great and a dog run just outside your door. They gave my dog a swag bag when we checked in. My only complaint, the beds were not that comfortable. Great place for traveling with a dog.

  Location!!

  This little inn is totally set up to handle dogs. Love the small patio that opens to the dog run. Love the bike path behind the hotel. Dog Beach is directly behind the hotel, which is why my dog and I chose this place. Doesn’t get any easier than that. Staff is great. Be ready for noisy airplanes, although my dog doesn’t seem to mind. Convenient and unpretentious.

  Best Dog friendly Hotel Ever!

  We stayed 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was amazing! We had a petfriendly room with a patio that opened up to the shared dog run/yard. The dogs loved it! The off leash dog beach is just a short walk through the sand from the hotel. After the dogs played with a dozen or so dogs on the beach, we brought them back to the hotel and used the dog wash station. It was so convenient and easier than trying to rinse them off in the shower. It was always stocked with fresh towels and clean warm water for the dogs. The room was perfect with tile floors and a sliding glass door that leads out to the dog run. We sat out outside at the table and chairs on our patio and watched the dogs play and people walking on the trail. The town is super dog friendly, with plenty of restaurants and shops that allow dogs. It was by far the best vacation at the beach my dogs have ever had. We will definitely be back this summer.

  A Great Place to Stay with Dogs!

  We stayed at the Ocean Villa Inn recently (NOV 2018) and just LOVED it! Our room was a comfortable size and very nice and well-cared-for. (We have stayed in dog-friendly hotels before where this wasn't the case!) The staff was very friendly and helpful, and our two dogs just LOVED the dog run outside the rooms, just off our patio. And San Diego's famous Dog Beach is just steps away, which they loved, too. It was a totally enjoyable stay and we will DEFINITELY come back! Thank you BringFido and Ocean Villa Inn!

  Fantastic place if you wanna bring your dog on vacation!

  My parents booked a room here when they were in town visiting, and because my 10 month old German Shepherd is essentially their grandchild, they wanted to stay at a dog friendly place. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and my dog loved the fenced in dog run that is behind rooms on the bottom floor. My other favorite part was the dog wash they offer outside right by the gate that gives you direct access to the dog beach. All in all it was a great place to stay! Of course it’s not necessarily the cleanest place, but it’s nothing I wouldn’t expect from a dog friendly hotel. I 100% would come back for a second stay, and recommend it for anyone traveling with dogs!
