    Our happy place

We first learned about the Paw House Inn about 17 years ago. We read about it in a local newspaper and wanted somewhere. We could go with our dogs so that we can interact with them but also do some things on our own like skiing and going to nice restaurants. We have not stopped going to the. Paw House since then. We go 2 to 3 times a year and I never disappointed. Summer winter, spring or fall there is always something to do. The owners of the end inform us about local goings on and give a great directories of local hiking areas restaurants and activities that can be done with or without our fur babies. The rooms are clean, the included breakfast is always delicious and they even cater to my vegan diet. My dogs are always happy to be there, playing in the dog park with the other dogs and their owners, and they are welcome at breakfast as long as well behaved. The Paw house is our happy place.

    Very disappointing

Phone calls prior to booking were very interesting and sounded like it would be fun. You have to book two days and because the people we talked to sounded so nice, we thought why not. We had a room on the second floor of the main house and it was okay. Nothing special. Two outlets in the room did not work properly and we found this out late in the evening.

Upon arrival, we were told no one but guests would be in the house, so we had no one to call. No small refrigerator was available in the room. The property is basically a kennel where people are permitted to stay. We could not take our dog into the large enclosed area outside as there were large dogs heading to the gate when we tried to get in. Barking at her continuously.

We were shown a kennel where you could leave your dog if you wanted to go out to dinner or into town. There is no way I would have left my dog in the kennel. It was dark and wet and very unpleasant. We did not see the owner until we were down for breakfast and he spent most of his time talking with guests he knew. My husband told him on our way out that we would not be staying the second night and the reasons. He did not seem interested at all and only said we should have called him the night the outlets were not working. On the way out, as he was heading to his truck, he said nothing to us, but said to our dog, sorry you didn't like it! We never asked for a refund for day two and he definitely didn't offer anything.

    Great location

One of two of the most dog friendly lodging we've ever been to; all the staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms, common areas & property are well maintained & clean. The fenced in area is such a wonderful addition to a "pet friendly" place. My pup and I loved running both before and after a day of sightseeing.

    Pups had a great time

Stayed in the The Koko Kabana (Cottage). It was perfect for 2 large dogs. The pups loved the large dog run. There are plenty of hiking trails close by. We went at the beginning of May and didn't have to worry about the bugs. Mitch and his family were very friendly and informative. It is a family-run inn. What is presented is what it is, no more no less.

    Doggie Heaven

We just returned from a 3 night stay at The Paw House Inn. Our room (Chase) was 2 floors, BR and bath upstairs and it was totally prepared for a 4 legged friend to live there. Besides the dog bed in our bedroom, there were sheets to toss over any furniture that might be a lounging spot for your dog. Poop bags and leash hook ups were in abundant supply on the property. The fenced in play yard also had picnic tables for dog owners who might want to sit while the dog played/lounged. Mitch and his staff were attentive and personable.

The breakfast each morning was the high point for me. I loved that we could bring our dog with us and had the opportunity to chat with the other guests. If you go, be sure to get the house specialty Vermont omelet: a unique combination of VT apples, cheddar, and maple syrup with cinnamon. It was delicious and I am certainly going to recreate their recipe. We took our dog on several of the suggested trails, hit some restaurants in downtown Rutland, and I searched out local yarn shops in the area to fill our time. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you want your dog to live like royalty!

Great place to stay with your dog!

We had a great time staying at Paw House. It's dog friendly from the ground up. Dogs are welcome in all the rooms, on the furniture and the breakfast patio - and especially in the on site dog park.

Pay attention when booking and read their policies. The place is clean and comfortable, but you won't find room service, on site dry cleaning, etc. Stairs are steep, so get a first floor room if you or your dog would have a tough time with them.

    A pawferctly great time!

We stayed at the paw house inn last summer and we had such a good time we're going back this year. Very nice accommodations and a big dog park for our furry friends. The breakfast selections were quite good and one morning they even had pup cakes for all of the dogs. We were even able to take our girl with us for dinner every night based on the recommendations from the owner. Highly recommended.

    Dog hotel greatness

Can't say enough about this place. The family is great and caring; the accommodations for both people and dogs are first rate. Great breakfast. The welcome for dogs is incredible. We will definitely go back and can't recommend it enough.

Low key weekend with the dog

The Paw House is a really wonderful place to stay. We have stayed here during the pandemic and they are taking a lot of care to make sure guests are safe. We had a lovely romantic weekend for my birthday and the owners made sure that my partners surprise of snacks and balloons were set up when we arrived. Our dog loved the freedom he had on the property. All of us look forward to our next stay.

Awesome place to travel with your dogs

Everything was clean and everything you could possibly need to enjoy some time away with your dog was at your fingertips. A kennel, which we did not use, a dog washing station, hose to clean off our dog that couldn’t get into the tub, towels, bowls, sheets, dog park, and super friendly staff. We traveled with our daughter and 2 dogs. Wilma, 5 year old Newf and Marlin 5 month old lab mix. We stayed in the Spot room and there was plenty of space for all of us and we absolutely loved the enclosed porch with swing. Our dogs enjoyed playing in the dog park with other guests. Everyone wore their masks or kept their distance. The other guests were friendly and everyone was responsible with their pets. Breakfasts were excellent. Mitch was incredibly responsive during our planning and made sure we were comfortable and felt safe traveling during COVID times. Their website has a wealth of information about the area and things to do and where to eat. We found that incredibly helpful. We enjoyed hiking and swimming at Leffert’s Pond and we hiked to Chaffee Falls. We visited Sugarbush Farms, Woodstock, and ate at the Rustic Rooster and the Lake House. We highly recommend the Paw House to anyone who is looking to take a relaxing getaway with their dogs. The accommodations are perfect. We also enjoyed the sculpture park right next door and at night the stars are magnificent.

    Alfie's favorite vacation!

Alfie LOVED this place! From the gift-wrapped dog treats on the pillow of his own cushioned wood-framed dog bed, to the lush lawn & huge park, this place is heaven for dogs. Alfie wasn't interested in the agility stations, but he loved dashing around the place, and we've never seen him so excited about a dog park! For people, the cozy inn -- with its huge collection of dog-themed books -- makes a delightful getaway.

The staff is terrific: Stephanie (manager) went well out of her way for us when we arrived late, Mitch (host/owner) welcomed guests & dogs at breakfast, and Allison was a friendly hand. They truly love dogs: They will happily admire your dog, tell their own dog stories, & show dog photos all morning (especially Mitch). All personalities of dogs are welcome: If a dog needs extra personal space, he or she gets a yellow ribbon, a wide berth and plenty of respect.

Breakfast was good, and the coffee was excellent. My vegan daughter got very good oatmeal and a fresh fruit salad, which was all she wanted. We had made-to-order omelets with eggs from local farmers, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and local cheddar cheese. With the fresh muffins, it was a fine breakfast. The truth is, we weren't there for the food: We were there for the joyful time, on a flowery patio filled with more dogs than people, all lounging happily in the gorgeous green hills of Vermont.

Finally, each family gets a kennel to furnish with their own dog bed & toys, in case they wish to use it, in ‘Mario’s Playhouse’. During the day, staff members walk & play with those dogs. Some of the time, those dogs will be alone in their kennels. This is very reasonable temporary space for contented, well-adjusted dogs who are getting attention from their families the rest of the time. (Dogs are den animals: they’re happy to curl up in an enclosure for hours at a time, as long as they're getting enough exercise and attention at other times.) Paw House Inn assumes that you'll be walking, playing and celebrating Vermont with your dog most of the time, which is why you wanted an inn that's all about dogs in the first place!

    Wonderful Furmily vacation

We Love Mitch and the Paw House Inn. We go every year now and look forward to visiting our new family and friends. The breakfast is always delicious. Our dogs loved that we were able to take them on all of our outings. We went to the farmers market, many dog friendly restaurants and amazing hiking trails.
We love that they always have a list of dog friendly places. When we were in the rooms we were able to enjoy netflix!
Looking forward to many more visits!
