Fine cuisine at the hotel can be savored in the testaurant, which is renowned in the Portsmouth area for its superb breakfasts, table d'hote lunches, and a la carte dinners. The menu is complemented by a fine wine list with an outstanding selection of wines. The hotel is a grand period building, dating back to the Edwardian era. It features a southwest-facing terrace that leads down to an extensive garden. A host of local attractions are all within easy reach of the hotel including the World Famous Historic Dockyard with its Naval Heritage Ships and the Charles Dickens Museum. The center of historic Portsmouth, the new Gunwharf Quays shopping center, and Southsea shopping center, are all within walking distance. The hovercraft terminal, Isle of Wight ferry terminal, and continental ferry terminal are also a short walk away.
