The Palace Hotel is definitely a landmark in the city of Como and renowned to be the best hotel in town. Besides the splendid panoramic lakefront position the Palace Hotel is just a stones-throw from the city center and the main shopping area filled with the best Italian designer boutiques. There are wonderful monuments both antique and modern the Cathedral Via Vittorio Emanuele II Portici Plinio and Cavour Square all are just a short walk from the hotel. It is composed of two buildings; the historical Palazzo Plinius one of the oldest in the city and the Pianella wing a more modern structure that contains spacious deluxe rooms. Both buildings offer a superb lake view. The restaurant Antica Darsena overlooking the old dock with lake view offers a wide range of Italian and international dishes and a fine wine list. During the summer season the restaurant tranfers to the Garden Terrace with spectacular lake view. The garden bar Ceccato offers the finest Italian ice cream.
