    Very Nice Hotel

Hotel very accommodating. Be aware that though they have a patio for dining, they do not allow dogs there. You have the option of dining in the lounge with your dog immediately next to the bar. Prices for the regular dining menu are unusually high, so ask for the bar menu if you’re counting pennies.

    My favorite hotel ever!

I’ve stayed here as often as possible. It’s five star and old and gorgeous and pet friendly! What more could you ask for?

    Beautiful hidden gem!

The Blennerhassett is a gorgeous grand dame on the Ohio River that shows her 134 years of age, but it still lovely despite a few worn areas. We had hoped to time our arrival to get dinner at the hotel, but we’re delayed. A quick call an hour before the restaurant was due to close, and they hooked us up with a lovely, tasty takeout dinner which was very much appreciated—kudos to the chef and staff for making that happen!

Upon our arrival, there’s a special sign welcoming the pups for the night. We found our room all ready for our pup princess, with bowls on the floor and a collection of puppy treats in a cute bespoke box. We had pre-ordered a plate of cookies for the humans and we did the electronic check-in, so we all enjoyed a treat after a long day on the road. The room was old-style elegant, and the mattress was the most comfortable on our entire trip.

If you arrive early (before 3:30), there’s a tour you can request. Though a valet was advertised, one was not available for our stay, but parking was very convenient and free. The street area felt safe for walking and there’s a grassy area a few steps from the front door. Breakfast was included and served buffet style, with eggs, a soufflé, cereals, breads, and two bowls fresh fruit as well as yogurt. The fresh berries with no melon was a welcome addition for this allergy sufferer.

There’s no space for pups in the dining areas, so they get to relax in your room while their humans eat. We especially loved the loaner pup from the local shelter that can be taken for walks to get your exercise, and can even be adopted if you fall in love—they’ve found homes for 17 pups so far this year!

    Great hotel

Normally I only like to leave reviews to rave, and while so many things about this hotel were amazing, we left with a very sour taste in our mouth. After seeing they took dogs on this app, I physically called to make a reservation cause I always ask regarding the pet fee. Our husky is a registered ESA, and I know there are all sorts of rules, but a fair amount of hotels will honor it like a service animal and wave the fee. We always travel with the card for proof.

I was told over the phone upon booking that they honored it, so I was like ‘Great! Thanks so much’ Its safe to say I’m not the only traveler who has to be really aware of cost, especially with this INSANE gas prices. With honoring it, I then even took the bait for an upsell on the room. Easy breezy. We arrive, (during a massive storm) the front desk was a whirlwind, but the gent working, under a lot of stress was great. We presented the ESA, he made a photocopy, helped us to the room.

All was well. It wasn’t till I was at the front desk the next am before check out, when I was inquiring about some artwork, that I overheard the manager getting a call from housekeeping and said our room number. I was like that’s our room. WELL, apparently we weren’t put in a ‘pet friendly room’ and I was informed by the front desk that they don’t take ESA. and we were being charged the $50 pet fee. 😳.

I did my best to not loose my mind, pleading my case, as well as my husband. But this woman didn’t budge, waving a paper in our face regarding service animals. What I’m actually upset about is not really the $50, it’s that this woman was the MANAGER, and the fact she didn’t even attempt to fix the mistake and truly apologize for the negligence of her staff. I am in a high position of Hospitality and Customer Service in my own employment, and I couldn’t believe her response was like, ‘Well they haven’t read this paper with the rules yet’.

Really disappointing. It’s such a beautiful hotel, awesome history, sweet little city. Staff was friendly, for the most part. But sadly we won’t return. If you book here, just be prepared to spend more money that quoted. And if you travel with an ESA card, don’t even bother asking. Hope this review helps others.

Warm and hospitable...very much a throwback to when hotels had great, personal service!

We loved it and plan to return as often as we are in that area. Lovely ambience and our dog enjoyed herself!

    My Corgis love this hotel!

I had always admired the beauty of this historic hotel when we would visit our in-laws in Parkersburg. When we brought my Corgis along for Christmas two years ago, we had to find a hotel. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that The Blennerhassett Hotel is dog friendly! My Corgi boys had so much fun! We were greeted and assisted at the sidewalk and my Corgi boys were greeted at check-in. They were really excited when we arrived in the room and they found goodies and bowls for them. The rooms were big enough to set up both of their large kennels with room to spare. The hotel is just as beautiful and historic looking on the inside. Roy and Mr. Griswold give The Blennerhassett FIVE bones and definitely will stay there again.

We loved our room and the staff was very friendly! It was so convenient having the pet bowls in the room waiting for us, and extra nice having treats and doggie bags included as well.

    Overnight Weekend Getaway

We stayed with our 2 large Shiloh Shepherds for one night, for a weekend getaway to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a wonderful time and wish we could of stayed longer. We will definitely go back if we are in the area. They offer complimentary stainless dog bowls (we had 4 - 2 for each dog) and dooty bags in the room, along with almost an endless supply of treats at the front desk. They put the names of the dogs staying at the hotel on a dog shaped sign in the lobby. The staff is very kind and helpful with our stay. THEY HAVE VALET & A BELLHOP!!! :) They have an attached restaurant and bar, we didnt eat dinner there, but had a snack at the bar and breakfast in the morning; which was very delicious. The room was very spacious, even with a king size bed (enough with a large crate on either side of the bed too), desk, dresser, TV armoire , 2 chairs with lamp table, & credenza with a view looking out over the courtyard/downtown government buildings. They are also not far from many conveniences and stores, along within walking distance of a few bars/restaurants.

    Very Pet Friendly!

My husband and I specifically chose this hotel and destination to have a weekend getaway with our pups! The hotel was extremely inviting for our two babies. Upon arrival, they had food and water bowls and waste bags in our room. There were even biscuits out in the lobby for them! Every time we passed by the desk they asked us if our fur babies were having a great stay too! I loved that! Our dogs are our children so it meant a lot to us for them to be acknowledged. We loved the hotel and we also took advantage of the pet friendly steam boat ride to the Blennerhassett island. What a fun time! We will definitely return!

Most inviting hotel for our pets

This old hotel from the 1800’s has been completely redone, yet retains historic value. The staff is very friendly and this has been the pet-friendliest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. They provide welcome kits for dogs, complete with food/water bowls on mats, treats, poo bags, and a map of pet areas. They even had a listing of local vets on the back. That was a huge asset, in my opinion. I will definitely stay again.
