Brunch on the patio with our German Shepard was great. Great food and great service.

Everyone in my group LOVED their food. Appreciated that my pup was given a fresh bowl of water as soon as we sat down. They had no problem letting us walk through the restaurant to get to the back patio, which was shaded and very cozy. Highly recommend!

We were coming back from hiking with the dogs in Shenandoah and looking for a dog-friendly restaurant for dinner. Black Bear Bistro came up on bringfido.com and we confirmed that this would be a good place for dinner on Yelp. It started off bad - Imagine our disappointment when we had to first pass a smelly dumpster to access the stairs to the outdoor patio where we could eat with our dogs. The disappointment increased when the stairs to this "dog-friendly" restaurant were the see-through iron grate type that hurt dogs paws. Granted they had teensy concrete pavers on one side of the steps, but my 35 lb corgi had a tough time navigating those, nevermind my 130 lb mastiff. There were only a few water bowls, and one was filled with stagnant water. When we were seated, we were not offered a water bowl or anything for our dogs. But I realize this isn't just about the dog-friendliness of a restaurant, it's also about the food and the service which, as my boyfriend called it - was a culinary abortion. We ordered a coke and a dr. Pepper - can't screw those up, right? Wrong. Completely flat. When we told the waitress, she came back, told us we were right, gave us new drinks - still completely flat. We ordered the garlic bread with a side of the "brick sauce" - it took 30 minutes to bring out what were basically dinner rolls with maybe a hint of garlic powder sprinkled on top and the most flavorless sauce I have ever tasted in my life. About another 20 minutes later, our pizzas came out, and we're both so flavorless and gooey in the middle, we couldn't even really eat them, and we didn't even have silverware or napkins provided to us to help eat the slop that the middle of the pizza turned into. The table next to us got their appetizer at the end of their new as well. The waitress never came to check if things were okay, and in fact, I had to remind her that we had ordered an appetizer, service was incredibly slow for a sparsely filled restaurant and $50 for dinner rolls, 2 flat sodas and 2 really terrible pizzas made for an incredibly disappointing dinner. A sandwich from the Sheetz down the road would have been more satisfying and a lot less expensive than this crappy dinner.

We had a lovely dinner on the terrace with our lab. I ordered pizza from "the brick" restaurant next door which has great wood fired pizza and my husband had a great entre from the bistro kitchen. Tillie got a bowl of water and admiration from fellow dinners
