no dog service or patio service on weekends … wouldn’t even let us order to go and eat outside. Very disappointed
- AmyJul 3, 2023Wouldn’t let us eat outside
There were people eating on the patio, including someone with a dog, and they turned us away saying dogs weren’t allowed out there. Not sure what was going on.
- PennyMar 11, 2022Patio currently closed as of 3/11/22
Due to staff shortages Hofer’s patio / deck is currently closed and they are not doing take away orders. You can pick up yummy treats from the bakery and eat on the patio, but you can’t order a meal at this time.

We had fun sampling some German food at Hofer’s. the waitress was very busy as it was the weekend of the 4th of July, and the restaurant was experiencing a staff shortage due to COVID, but everyone was friendly and helpful. they were very accommodating of our dog, and brought him a bowl of water.

very nice covered porch for breakfast with our dog Darby. The food was great and Darby enjoyed watching the activity on the street.

Our 2nd trip here and love this place! Sylar loves being here and the food is amazing!
- BarbaraAug 24, 2020Wonderful!
The food was phenomenal, the staff was superior and they cater to your furry family member with a large pail of water. We loved it!
- JenniferNov 12, 2019Amazeballs!
Took our German Shepard here and it’s not to be missed! The people who left the “rotten” review did not read the sign. You have to go to the bakery and order, then they’ll bring you your meal. The knockwurst with warm sauerkraut was yummy (our pup ate the kraut, if you can believe that, and got pouty when we ran out.) The homemade soups were just the warm up we needed to fight off the cold weather (as you, of course, need to eat outside with your pup.) We also took some rye bread and danish to go for later. 5 bones!! Great experience
- AutumnDec 31, 2018Great little quick spot!
We visited Helen right after Christmas and popped in for a quick snack. Everyone was nice and the food was great. The seating on the patio is simple, plastic furniture that you'd find at any little low-key, outdoor spot. Comfy and clean and space for our pup to sit with us.
- MeganJul 1, 2018Great food and friendly service!
I went with my pup at lunchtime and a waitress welcomed her and brought her water. The patio tables had menus and I did not have to go inside to order. There was a band playing that stopped between songs to come love on my dog. The patio was shaded and my dog could relax and watch the horse carriages walk by. My food was plentiful and delicious! My dog was okay to go inside the bakery as well. Lots of additional delicious baked goods for people in there. I would definitely eat here again with my pup.
- PriscillaJun 26, 2018closed too early
We walked through town to get here and arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon as soon as the host saw us she put up the closed sign. The bakery was still open so we grabbed a pastry, and the lady that worked it gave our dogs water.
- RichardDec 21, 2017Very welcoming!
We were here right before Christmas with our 2 dogs. We tried a couple of other restaurants that were reviewed here, but they were closed at the time. The employees here were very welcoming. We sat on the patio, and they brought our dogs a bucket of water. The schnitzel and potato pancakes were tasty, and the service was quite good. Another reviewer complained about the service, but I think they didn't understand that you need to go inside to get a menu and order. After that, the servers bring your food to your table. The restaurant should explain that better to new arrivals. I also wish that restaurants with patios would invest in patio heaters. That would make them more enjoyable year-round.

The soft pretzels, pretzel roll, brats, sauerkraut, and German potato salad were awesome. We sat on the outdoor patio and the waitress was so nice to our two chocolate labs. She brought them a five gallon bucket of water.

We went for breakfast and sat outside on the porch. No one came to wait on us. We left.
- ToniMore than a year agoGreat breakfast
Dogs are welcome on the patio and they even give you a treat for them. Only drawback is you have to get items to go and then sit at patio. But the food is great and the staff is friendly.
- KennethMore than a year agoGo for lunch
Went for breakfast and while you can sit outside they only serve lunch. Had a few great muffins and coffee. Came back for lunch and it was crowded! Long hike had us starved so we went elsewhere but will be back.
