This restaurant was very accommodating of our three small dogs

Block Island is dog friendly in general and the National Tap and Grill does have great food and a view. Please note that the description for the restaurant on this website is inaccurate as stated, "Enjoy lunch, dinner, or an evening drink on their dog-friendly patio with breathtaking views of the water. Wait staff is attentive and will bring out water for Fido". Upon arrival with our 7 lb. pup.,, there was no breathtaking view of the ocean as dog parents and dogs have to sit on the back patio with zero view of water. There were plenty of seats on the front deck facing the ocean, but their policy is to segregate to the back of the building. No water was provided as stated, and staff seemed skiddish of the pet if a bark came their way. Lunch was about 60 dollars with tip, and we are sure that this is based on the view. You may wish to go to another outdoor more casual eatery and actually enjoy the ocean view.

We came here during a day trip to Block Island on the Fourth of July, when we needed some relief from a particularly hot beach day. Despite the hotel’s restaurant and bar area being particularly crowded, we were immediately seated on the intimate back patio which had about 6 tables with umbrellas. The waitress was kind and wonderful to our pup, and cheerfully offered to bring out a water bowl before we could ask. Also nice that we were able to have table service even though we were only ordering drinks and not food.

Rhode Island was light on pet-friendly restaurants. We ended up going out to Block Island after being told if we wanted beaches where dogs were allowed, we needed to hop on the ferry. National Hotel Tap and Grill also came up when asking about dog-friendly dining. I really wanted to try the nearby brewery, but they were not pet-friendly. So glad we ate here. Lobster rolls were awesome. Calamari is a little salty but cooked perfectly. Beer selection is a little limited, but passable. The staff is friendly as can be, and the views, while you eat, were just as appealing. Wish the hotel was pet-friendly because we'll be back.

We had a great meal on the dog patio. Very dog friendly place. Brought out a bowl of water for the dog. The food was very good, excellent service in a lovely setting with other dog lovers. Perfect. Loved how dog friendly Block Island is.

I was there last year and plan to go there again in August 2016. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and they treated our little Min Pin like a queen. I highly recommend this place.

The food and atmosphere was excellent! Very friendly staff took care of us and our dog. Bowl of water for her once seated and wonderful attention throughout our meal. Great find!

The staff was very nice. They brought our dog a bowl of water. We were able to sit on the back patio with our dog. The food was very tasty. We liked the atmosphere and food so well, that we ended up eating dinner twice and breakfast once during our stay here. Sabrina and Jeff are great staff members! We would definitely recommend eating here!
