Entry Requirements

Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Oman with your pet:
  • Oman is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit to return to the U.S., travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record, a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on returning to the U.S. with your pet from a high risk country, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
  • Obtain a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian in the country of origin, including a certificate of of vaccination against rabies.
  • Pet owners must also obtain an import permit valid for one month from the date of issue for OMR 20.
  • Register your cat or dog at the Quarantine Bureau at Muscat International Airport or Veterinary Quarantine in Rusayl.
  • Dogs or cats under the age of four months are not allowed to enter.

Quarantine Information

  • Pets traveling to Oman do not need to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above. Veterinary Quarantine may refuse entry if the requirements are not met or order the animals to be held the quarantine for up to six months.
