Manager has bad attitude

Super 8 by Wyndham Belen NM

I had booked Super 8 in Belen because it was close to where my dog was going to have surgery, and I was going to bring my other small dog. However, the Calf Canyon fire was raging so much and so close I was terrified to leave my cat at home in case of evacuation. So I brought her. I called BringFido to see about changing my reservation because Super 8 says it does not take cats. The kind agent called the Manager and asked if I could do that, and he reluctantly said yes, but it would cost extra $$.

I also asked her to find out if I could check in early ( I was exhausted from packing my car all night in case of the fire, and had to leave at 5 am to get my dog to the hospital by 8). She explained that I was exhausted and sitting in my packed car with my dog and cat. The manager said, "Where's the fire?" (This is the largest fire in the U.S. and New Mexico history!). He then said the room was empty, but he would charge me an early check-in fee. I asked if I could cancel and book a different accommodation. (It was about 11:15 am) The manager told her no, I could not cancel without paying the full room fee.

I drove to Super 8, but immediately did not like the area, the noise, and what appeared to be dirty, ratty window curtains. So, I drove to the next town and stayed In Los Lunas where the manager waived an early check in and welcomed my cat. What fire??? Well, it has so far burned over 300,000 acres and continues to rage. I am disgusted with the attitude of the manager at Super 8.
