Best place in Key Largo
Rowell's Waterfront ParkNice relaxed park with large grassy area where our dog can run off leash. Now keep in mind that the on-site rules state that dogs should be leashed, but the staff don't enforce this. Dog owners here are very aware of this fact and are careful not to cause reason for the rule to be enforced.
This is the best dog clean up of anywhere we have been in the US, which generally is not good.
In our experience here, dogs that were off leash were very well behaved and sociable with other dogs.
Keep in mind that although the park is mostly fenced, there is an open gate leading to a very busy road.
Dogs can swim in the ocean here. We saw manatees and large tarpon in the swimming area on several occasions throughout the winter months.
Nice swimming area to swim with your dog.

Just OK
Microtel Inn & Suites By Wyndham FairmontStaff were friendly. Room was basic but ok. Breakfast was the usual hotel fare but again ok.
Room was moderately clean though found hairs in the bathtub and quite a bit of dust on shelving. The floor was carpeted. Drainage from the sink was very slow.
The biggest complaint was that common spaces were filthy. Lobby floor in breakfast area had lots of crumbs and dirt. The walls everywhere showed dirty, greasy fingerprints especially around door handles, elevator buttons and light switches.
Entrance doors did not work with the room key so you had to walk around to the front door to get back in.
Walking distance to a few restaurants and stores as well as a pet food store.

Amazing Staff
Red Roof Inn PLUS+ & Suites ErieMel and the wonderful ladies of the Erie Red Roof Plus are probably the most friendly hotel staff I've encountered in a while.
Their love of dogs is evident, as they help to socialize rescues and therapy dogs. A Yellow lab helped with my check in 😁 Mel remembered my name and that of my dog the next day.
The rooms are not fancy but clean, comfortable and are good value for the price.
There is a nice, safe little walled greenspace where you can walk your pup.
A note to visitors with dogs: Please pick up after your dog! Many here do not, and remember that being able to stay here with your pet is a privilege that we could all lose because of the few irresponsible and selfish folks who think that the rules don't apply to them.
Thank you to the hotel staff who clean up after these people with a smile.
Highly recommend this place.
