Wet carpet

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Van Horn an IHG Hotel

Checked in after 4pm got into the room smelled strongly like wet dog and strong chemicals. Then went to lock the door it would not lock, security issue for 2 woman traveling alone with a small dog. Went to go tell the front desk and lifted my dog from the floor paws and fur wet. Felt carpet it was really wet. Went to front desk was told they just deep cleaned the carpets. Let the staff know they are really wet and the door does not lock. Manager came up to the room and said she was not told by anyone the lock was not working and said it might be the building settling. Told us to use the top door latch. Said there was no other rooms but will refund me the pet fee only because I booked with 3rd party. Ok so slept in a room that I did not feel safe and smelled strong like cleaning chemicals; had major headache and coughing all night.

Tried to check out at 6am to get the hell out, the front desk person told me I owed because my Mastercard was declined. Let him know when I checked in It was paid in full and already came out my account. Then showed him my bank page noting the booking. Then I told him I have no Mastercard at all I have only a Visa. He then charged my Visa again. Really! Waiting for the overcharge to be removed and honestly should be refunded all together for the whole stay. Worst experience ever at a Holiday Inn Express. The manager was very nice and the staff but better training and comping when needed for mistakes made and having us sleep in that horrible smelling room where we had to keep our shoes on the entire time.
