Very bad smell
Quality Inn MaconThe hotel seemed very old, and it seems like they tried to keep covering up bad smells with deodorizer. The room smelled very bad.
Lots of issues
La Quinta by Wyndham Cleveland TNThe refrigerator in our room was broken and was leaking water. They did come to replace it with a new refrigerator. But there was also a loud dog barking right across the hall from us, both in the evening as well as early in the morning. The AC started making a very loud whining noise at about 11pm, and the hotel staff was not able to fix it, so we had to turn it off. This made it very warm in the room, so we had a hard time sleeping. Then the alarm clock in the room went off at 6am (we never touched it, so it must have been turned on before we got there). So it was a very unpleasant stay overall. When I talked to a manager about the situation in the morning, they offered a $30 refund (out of $182). That seems pretty unreasonable. I have a camper van and could have slept comfortably in there for free. I paid for a hotel so I could enjoy a nice, comfortable evening of rest. So this was a waste of money.
Avoid at all costs
Athena InnIt’s in a very sketchy neighborhood. The hotel is ugly and not well maintained. The main entrance has a locked security door, suggesting they’ve had plenty of trouble in the past. The hotel staff was extremely unfriendly.
