Wonderful!
LakenenlandWe arrived late and in the rain - but this stop was still a high point of our visit to the Marquette area. We ended up driving through the site (because of growing dark and rain), and it was still just ... marvel after marvel.
Definitely worth a visit. Next time, we're walking with the pup!
Strange Place
Brentwood Motor InnThis place was okay - not great, but okay. There were long-term stains on the carpet and the furniture, but I think it was clean-ish. My biggest issue was the lack of ALL human contact. Even for a simple question, I had to route through BringFido - there was NO WAY to speak to a human and no interaction with a human being at all at check-in. As the other reviewer noted, it was odd. But even as a fellow introvert, I'm not sure I'd call it wonderful. Okay for one night though.
Beloved eatery is no more
Fischers Happy Hour TavernFischer’s Happy Hour Tavern is now closed for good - unless and until someone buys the property.
Fine for the night
North Platte Inn & SuitesWe prefer motels to hotels, so this place worked. Not a lot of grass for our dog, but we made do. Neighborhood a smidge sketchy, as others noted - but not unsafe. I should have noted the other review about being under the metal stairs; do yourself a favor and ask for a different room.
Okay
GuestHouse Inn & Suites RochesterNot a bad place, but a bit of an odd one. Sprawling layout, with corridors connected oddly to each other - and the pet-friendly rooms are WAY at the back. Hallways are dimly lit. Our room smelled, though running the A/C helped. On the plus side, breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. There was also good space for our dog to stretch her legs and do her business.
Maybe pay a bit more
Motel 8 LaramieStaff was great, and the place was pretty quiet. But run down, and the room had a funny smell that never improved. Also, nowhere nearby to walk our dog so she could relieve herself.
Nice little motel
Sunset Lodge EscanabaWell-furnished, comfy motel. The only negative is the highway out front. It quiets down at night, but diminishes from the experience a bit. Still, I’d stay here again.
Pretty, but a lot of scrambling
Sylvan Lake Shore TrailheadThis trail was crazy busy, so not really quiet and restorative. There was a lot of scrambling, and many uneven stairs. Taller dogs might be okay, but it wasn’t a good choice for our Cardigan Corgi.
Consider Legion Lake instead.
Wonderful night!
