Old Florida style motel
Grove City MotelThe cottage was comfortable enough inside for my dog, dad and me, with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath in a semi open concept. The outside looked fairly scary though with tons of work still needed for Hurricane Ian damage. The landscaping is also running a little wild. The owner had to be away, so called me personally and left the key in the room, so I can't comment on the staff, but he seemed nice on the phone. He did apologize at the time for a weed issue, which was a bit of an understatement.
There is also a pool in the middle of the very challenged landscaping which was being enjoyed by a group of other guests. I got the impression they might be long-term tenants but might be incorrect. Overall the property is fairly damaged and in desperate need of outside repair, so I'm only giving it 3 bones at this time. My 84 yo dad voted it the best place we stayed on our journey. With some work, it will be a quaint, old Florida style motel. There is a restaurant on the property which seemed nice which we didn't try because we had the kitchen in the room.
Drunks and fire ants
Days Inn by Wyndham St GeorgeCheck-in was difficult, and when we were going into our room we were accosted by a drunk (?) woman from the next room. When I went to walk the dog there were signs of fire ants everywhere. Highway side of the building was very loud from trucks on 95 which was directly above an embankment beside the hotel. Got up and left at 4am. I wanted to choose 0 bones, but it wasn't an option.
