Just fine

Best Western Socorro Hotel & Suites

No bells and whistles but a clean and comfortable overnight stay. Good breakfast and attentive staff. Didn’t look for pet area as got in late and key early but plenty of places to walk our dog near back of the property. Right off freeway. Socorro is gateway to a lot of good places such as major wild life refuges, the large array radio telescope site, and gorgeous back country driving.

Good choice

Quality Inn & Suites Near White Sands National Park

This is our 3rd stay at a Quality Inn. And while each one had specific plusses and minuses, the overall group is good to humans and dogs. This particular one in Alamogordo NM (close to White Sands National Park) has been extensively remodeled inside and very fresh and clean. There is no specific dog area on site but several lots and walks right next door.

Great for a large dog and humans, too!

Quality Inn Taos

This was available on short notice but pleasantly surprised. The dog-friendly rooms always include 2 queen-size beds and the overall bedroom-bathroom area is spacious. Esp great if staying more than one night with an 80 lb dog. Old property but very clean and bedding/mattresses just right. Close to several dog-friendly restaurants and away from the (terrible) congestion of downtown. The continental breakfast way above average. The only downside is the dirt area that the dog has to use is full of bad prickly weeds and basically awful -- only reason for 4 bones not 5. We used as as little as possible and took our big lab to the Kit Carson park downtown with plenty of room for shady walks and some off-leash time.
