Good for pups and people
Mocha Joe's CafeBig props for being the only restaurant in town that’s actually dog friendly. I didn’t get to go because they weren’t listed when I planned my trip, but saw lots of locals drinking their coffee. They had a chalk sign out front saying well behaved dogs were welcome inside. They’ve been around for several years so have to be doing something right!
Welcoming and well located
The Dean HotelAs others have said, funky, cool and a little weird, but great for dogs after you convince them about the elevator. Our room had a super small bathroom and no refrigerator, which was a bit tough for our dog food situation. Wouldn’t rush back, but it was interesting for a night.
Good eats but not dog friendly
Amy's Bakery Arts CafeTerrific baked goods made right on site, and friendly staff. Unfortunately the dog friendly seating is all outside in front of the cafe. Even at 10am in the middle of the week, the road by the the seating area is noisy, smelly and scary for timid dogs. Not really worth the visit if you’re bringing Fido.
Far from great
Latchis HotelVery cool, historic hotel, and appreciate how seriously they treat the potential liability that comes with being dog friendly. Guests have to sign lots of forms taking responsibility for the doggo good citizen, which is great. The rooms run small and funky - comfortable temps, hot water, mildew free showers and adult sized bathroom fixtures are not guaranteed. But the location is good, staff are friendly and the elevator is reliable. Still nowhere in shouting distance for Fido to go to the bathroom, which seems like it wouldn’t be a hard fix if they actually cared. All in all, it was fine for one night, but considering how few of the local businesses are dog friendly, I wouldn’t rush back.
