Elevator broken

Quality Inn Bellevue

When I went to the front desk to check in, the young lady said that the elevator was broken, but that it wasn’t really a big deal because they could put us on the second floor. She said someone should have called us to let us know. 1) no one called, and 2) yes! It’s a big deal!

I explained that my husband cannot manage going up and down stairs, and that I couldn’t manage taking our things up and down the stairs by myself. She said that there were no rooms available on the first floor.

When I asked how long the elevator had been out of order, she replied that it had been about four days and they had to order a part. They had four days to contact me so I could make other arrangements, but they didn’t. I made reservations early because we were traveling with our dog and I needed to be certain that we would have a place to stay.

They offered no help whatsoever. They did not offer help with our things. They did not offer a refund. They did not offer to help us find another place to stay. Regarding a refund, the front desk clerk said that her manager was not working that day, but that she was sure that we would get a refund because the cancellation was not our fault, but that we would have to wait until the next day to know for sure. What?

Now, here I was trying to make a reservation somewhere else at the last minute. Other places nearby were much more expensive. Fortunately, the Quality Inn came through for us. Very basic accommodations, but cleanish and dog friendly, with very nice people at the front desk.
