Not great
Hampton Inn Duluth Canal ParkI wish I had read the previous reviews before booking. I reserved a two room lakeside king suite for my husband, myself, and our dog. I called the hotel directly and told the woman I spoke to that I wanted to make sure I was getting the room I expected because I was booking through BringFido. She assured me I would. I did not take note of her name, but I wish I had.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were placed in a very small handicapped accessible room with a view of the hotel next door. This trip was supposed to be a celebration, and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. When I approached the front desk about the issue, I was confronted by three hotel employees who repeatedly told me it was my fault for reserving through a third party website.
My husband asked about moving to a different room and they told him the hotel was full that night, despite their own website showing rooms available. I had reserved three nights, but the staff was so rude I felt uncomfortable staying there. We stayed one night, then went to a different hotel for the remaining two. We have never had an issue booking elsewhere through BringFido.
I also have never had a bad experience staying at the Canal Park Hampton over the last 20+ years, but this was a big one. I guess I can chalk it up as a lesson learned. One last thing, I definitely wouldn’t call this hotel dog friendly. Dog tolerant would probably be more accurate.
