Not For Dogs Or Humans

Quality Inn Carolina Oceanfront

Where do I even begin? My family and I have stayed at this hotel years ago and realizing that they are pet friendly prompted us to stay here for our OBX vacation with our beagle.

Now, years ago it was a decent value for the money and the plus is a great view and free breakfast. However, fast forward 4 years later and this place has gone downhill. From the moment we arrived we had endless issues. First, the card key reader did not work for 3 days in a row. Which meant we had to constantly get the cards reactivated over and over again. We put in a request for maintenance to fix the “charging mechanism” and finally he came to fix it. The rest of the time it worked (finally).

Next, the cleaning crew did a poor job in cleaning. The first day we noticed the bathroom was dirty with hairs all over the shower and tub (this was when we just arrived—so it wasn’t even our hairs!! Ewww). One of the lightbulbs was out the entire time we were there in the bathroom. At one point, we had to call for the cleaning crew to service our room for the day, because they never came. We left at 9:30am and got back at 2pm to a not serviced room. When the General Manager came by our room to speak with us, he never apologized but instead insisted that his cleaning crew claimed we had the Do Not Disturb on our door (we did not). After arguing with my husband, he finally agreed to have someone clean our room at our convenience. After that, the service went even more down hill from there. The bathroom was never cleaned and it took me pulling off the sheets off the bed in order for them to “change the sheets.” Which being on the beach were constantly sandy since the beach was literally in the back door.
On top of all of this, it was s constant struggle to find a place to walk our dog. Green grass areas were next to none, and the only patches to walk our sweet pup was on areas that had thorns and cactus-like plants. Our poor girl even got thorns in her paws (and me on my feet). The other “open areas” were so walked on by other dogs and their owners that it had pee and poo all over, that our dog wanted nothing to do with those areas.

Needless to say, we WILL NEVER stay here again! So disappointing. If it wasn’t for the view and one of the front desk gals being so nice, we probably would have left sooner! Our advice is to find another hotel for you and your pup!
