Great Stopover
Holiday Inn Express Greencastle an IHG HotelVery clean and comfortable with room for our dog to run a bit out to the side
Just okay
Home2 Suites by Hilton SummervilleOverall okay, but our shower was all but occluded and couldn’t be fixed until next day; no bath mat so get an extra towel; breakfast was pretty pitiful: grits (good), hard overcooked “omelettes,” wrapped sandwiches with gouda and bacon or sausage, and of course waffles; only spoons (not even sporks-ever try to cut a hard omelette with a spoon?). Don’t be fooled by the poorly functioning thermostat on the wall-the real control is on the unit under the window. If you do laundry, there are 2 washers but only one working dryer, a really fun social bottleneck.
Great for Sully
Best Western Mountain Lodge at Banner ElkLots of grass for the dog and very comfortable motel; old style with outdoor walkways.
Typical Hampton Inn
Hampton Inn WilkesboroNice hotel, good breakfast. Not much grass for pets except parking lot.
Understaffed
Best Western Plus Strongsville ClevelandA really nice place but we arrived after 3 buses unloaded and a team of 10-year-olds checked in. Desk person was obviously harried but still really nice and helpful to everyone. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast was not included which is okay (usually not that good anyway, anywhere). But, coffee pots were empty. This is a large and nice hotel that I would think would be better prepared for large numbers of clients. Maybe someone was out sick. Otherwise great place.
Great place and price
Best Western Plus Des Moines West Inn & SuitesFairly recently remodeled. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was so-so like most. Pretty good gym and nice indoor pool. Lots of grassy areas for our dog to roam.
Solid place
Candlewood Suites Youngstown W I-80 Niles Area an IHG HotelSuite was nice with kitchenette and a few utensils and full sized refrigerator. Good space to take out the dog. No breakfast but good places close by, lots better than the usual hotel breakfast.
One of my favorite places
Best Western Plus Steeplegate InnSully, our dog, got wrapped cookies at check in; there was ok space for him to run. Hotel is large and awesome with large enclosed open area in the middle of a square with a pool, game machines, tables, etc. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a hotel; they cook REAL eggs in small batches!
Basic but nice, clean
Days Inn by Wyndham ShallotteTypical of Days Inn. Basic but clean, really nice, and helpful people.
Great people but…
Sleep Inn & Suites AlbemarleThe staff here were really nice and accommodating but the physical plant needs some serious updating, repair and just regular maintenance. Trash and leaves in the stairwells, lots of wall/ceiling damage from water, damaged doors. Our first room, aside from the damage, had been a smoking room; next room had mildew around the tub, and dirty surfaces in the room. Stay elsewhere.
Nice Place
DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Nashville AirportReally nice place with some room for dogs to run. Otherwise about standard for pet friendly hotels.
Absolutely great place
1906 Pine Crest Inn & RestaurantLet me just say, the Pine Crest Inn is and, as far as I know, always has been such a great place to stay that if I said anything at all bad, 1) no one would believe it, and 2) someone would probably track me down with a straight jacket. Trust me, you will never go wrong staying at the Pine Crest Inn.
Great but slow
Comfort Suites Topeka NorthwestGreat space for our dog and typically nice clean room/hotel but woefully short of staff: cleaning/preparing took until nearly 8pm.
Grrrrrreat
Homewood Suites by Hilton Newtown - Langhorne PAGreat place for dogs: room to run, cookies at the desk, very friendly to dogs. Also really nice for pet owners-even to having decent breakfast which is rare at hotel chains in my experience.
OK but…
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Toledo South OHOK place for pets with large grassy area adjacent. For the ones of us on 2 legs, there are several better places nearby. Several electric outlets did not work; ice machine on our floor was out of order as was the Fitness facility. Breakfast was waffles and cold cereal and breads.
Absolutely great place
Element Omaha Midtown CrossingGreat place-clean, modern, spacious and near really good restaurants with nice outdoor dining so your pet can come along. Somewhat limited exercise space for your dog but there was a nice grassy area across the street. One of my favorite places I’ve stayed in while traveling!
Better later?
Comfort Suites TwinsburgUndergoing renovations so probably will be much better in a few weeks.
Nice, close to interstate and metro
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham DC Metro Capital BeltwayNice place, clean and decent breakfast (unusual). Some dog space but no free bags available.
Basic, clean and convenient
Sleep Inn & Suites Topeka West I-70 WanamakerNice place, clean, reasonable; some grass to let dog run and other places nearby.
Simple, clean, roomy
Candlewood Suites Perrysburg an IHG HotelReally nice people, roomy room, quiet and clean. No pretense of some crappy “breakfast” that is almost always terrible. Lots of space for dog walking/running.
Super place for our dog (and for me)
Lakeside Lodge ClemsonFirst class place on the lake in Clemson, close to anything you could want except, maybe, a ski slope: restaurants, shopping, water, boat ramps, whatever. And lots of room for the dog to go out and run around the grounds and the huge church parking lot next door. I also found multiple walking trails where the dog could run free through the woods and shade. We visited again in Oct, 2021-still absolutely great place. If you go here, look up Lighthouse Restaurant on Lake Keowee.
Great Stopover
Comfort Suites Mount VernonI think this place replaced an old Comfort Inn I stayed in a few years ago (it needed replacing). Regardless, this place is great: clean, convenient to the freeway, multiple restaurants, and to town. As always, some folks don’t control their dogs and there was a good bit of barking but I never heard anything in my room. The pet area is small but fenced in and clean and grassy. Breakfast was about as good as you could expect.
Lots of space
Comfort Suites Independence - Kansas CityClean place, lots of space for dogs to run and lots of restaurants close by.
Stayed another time and found it the same nice place to stay
Good Place to stop over in Elko
Quality Inn & Suites ElkoWe have stayed here before and likely will again for reasons stated before but discovered this time (I guess I was always on the ground floor previously) that there is no elevator and carrying everything up even on flight of stairs was tough on my bad knee after stting in the car all day. FYI!!!
OK, but
Best Western Plus Columbia InnHotel is pretty nice although the bathroom for a “deluxe king room” was very small. There was limited parking and barely any grass area for dogs to walk/run.
Nice place on a hill
La Quinta by Wyndham RomeNice place to stay, probably recently renovated. Also it is at the end of dead-end road on a hill with little traffic and room for dogs to run. BTW: my dog is 75# (but really well behaved and never barks) vs the stated limit of 40 and no one seemed to mind at all. Especially with the 2-3 yappy little dogs I hear frequently from other rooms.
Good solid clean stop
Comfort Inn & Suites Hays I-70First time I’ve stayed here but we’ll be back. Nothing flashy but clean, quiet, and friendly. Breakfast was nothing to brag on but in this age of Covid, what they offered was better than nothing like a lot of places.
Mediocre at best but....
Quality Inn Simpsonville - Greenville1. Very friendly and helpful staff.
2. Convenient to freeway and Simpsonville area but a bit far from all things Greenville
3. Needs serious TLC (manager this morning said Choice Hotels is supposed to renovate this year, especially baths; but he was skeptical. Walkways were really dirty. Room seemed basically clean; some popcorn ceiling peeling away;
Hint: double rooms have jacuzzis at least until renovated.
Nice place and location
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Greenville Haywoodwe frequently stay at LaQuinta Inns as they are clean, comfortable, and pet friendly. This one was an example plus it is convenient to LOTS of restaurants and shopping and close to I-385 and therefore has easy access to downtown and to I-85 to go north or south. Not fancy (neither am I) but really good value!
OK but there are better choices out there
Drury Inn & Suites Nashville AirportThis hotel was very nice and clean with nice furnishings and decor in the common areas. They also had breakfast available unlike lots of places since Covid struck.
The grassy area for dogs was pretty limited.
The room ("Deluxe King Room")was clean and comfortable but the bathroom was very cramped. There were no drinking glasses or cups in the room at all and no coffee maker. Also the refrigerator was a "Micro"-the ones that are about 2' x 2' x2', also pretty cramped.
Overall, this place was OK but there are better places out there and some of those are also cheaper.
The room was clean and comfortable
Good as always
Best Western Plus Wendover InnVery clean and (I think) refurbished rooms. We stay here whenever we need a stopover between Colorado (where we live) and our son’s homee in Oakland, Ca.
Super place for us and our dog
Best Western Plus Sparks Reno HotelReally nice place. Of course there were limitations due to Covid but this is where we’ll stay when in Reno. It is right on I-80 but there was no noise in the room. Only negative was limited room to walk the dog between the parking lot and frontage road but nothing is ever perfect.
Always a pleasant stop
La Quinta by Wyndham Salt Lake City AirportWe have stayed here multiple times-it is clean, reasonable, roomy and great for pets. There are several areas close by for pets to run. the only negative to this location is the lack of places to eat nearby
OK but there's better close by
Best Western Elko InnThis was our first time staying here vs another similarly priced hotel close by (not available this trip). The room was fine-spacious, clean and well stocked. However, the room was at one end of the long hotel and the two card readers for access other than the front door were not working; the person at check-in suggested leaving a rock, etc in the door to allow re-entry (security?). They do have breakfast but barely: coffee was getting cold, biscuits were hard/cold, grape jelly that I picked up was HARD in the pack, like plastic. "Cheese Omelettes" actually were filled with (I think) ground up ham, peppers, onions in a slurry-not very tasty at all. The dog run area was littered with poop but that seems to be a common problem, not with the hotel necessarily, but rather with obnoxious pet owners. I do not blame the hotel for that but it i still irritating.
Great for dogs and humans
Holiday Inn Express Metropolis an IHG HotelGreat place: people, room, pool, exercise room, and breakfast. And great space for dogs to run. Will definitely stay here again
