Very dog-friendly--and a good place to stay
Lighthouse InnMy Golden Retriever and I stayed in a ground-floor suite: bedroom, bathroom, and living area with kitchenette. Spotlessly clean. Nicely furnished. Well-maintained. Light bulbs in lamps bright enough for reading. A designated parking spot for each unit. Quiet despite being on Hemlock, the main street in town. A couple of small buildings with 4 units in each one. Short walk to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Doggie basket in the room. Staff puts the names of visiting dogs on the board in the lobby (which is a mile down the road at the Inn at Cannon Beach, which owns both places). Includes breakfast at the Inn at Cannon Beach--unfortunately, an ordinary motel buffet (I've eaten at many). The Lighthouse Inn is located about midway along the town's narrow north-south strip between US 101 and the ocean. The Cannon Beach downtown area of shops and restaurants is a short drive to the north. Beautiful, long beach great for dogs and people.
Good place to take your dog
La Quinta by Wyndham Grants PassMy male Golden Retriever and I stayed at this hotel the night of Friday, October 4. Without asking for it, I was upgraded to a suite, which is a kitchen in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. The suite was very roomy, clean, and in excellent condition. The front desk employee was friendly and helpful. There is plenty of area to walk your dog around the edge of the parking lot and on the sidewalk.
There are 2 things that keep this review from being a "5": (1) the clomping elephant in the room above me, and (2) a sub-par free breakfast. The bagel was soggy and crushed, the C Ration scrambled eggs were cold, and the fresh fruit wasn't ripe. The coffee was fine.
