Horrible Experience
Motel 6 Barstow CA - I15 and Lenwood RoadI would give this place a negative rating if I could. Our air conditioner was broken and the cold water in the sink was shut off with a wrench so we had to fill our dog’s water bowl from the tub. We attempted to open the window to cool off the room, but smokers and high traffic which disrupted our dogs prevented us from keeping it open. Thank heavens our stay was in the fall and not during summer heat. To top off our stay, we woke up to multiple cockroaches on the walls. There was caution tape around the entrance to the pool. The grass area was the best thing about this motel. It was in a courtyard area around the swimming pool. Unfortunately, it was littered with lots of dog messes despite having doggie bag station.

Great Place for Dogs
Roadrunner LodgeThis is an older motel along historic Route 66. Our room was clean and very dog friendly. There was no carpet on the floors and we were provided with doggie treats, a water bowl and dog towel in our room. There was also a fenced grass play area on the property (which our golden retrievers really appreciated) stocked with toys, water bowls, shade, and dog bags, as well as chairs for their human companions. The owner was very friendly and a dog owner himself. The property was quiet and we felt safe. There was a good restaurant across the street. We ordered take-out, but they also offered patio seating if you want to bring your pet.

Nice Stay
La Quinta by Wyndham West MemphisThe hotel was quiet despite being close to the freeway. Our room was on the second floor and did not have carpet. They charge a $100 refundable fee for dogs. There was not a dedicated pet area, but there was adequate grass around the side & back of the hotel. We felt safe at the hotel, but I’m not sure about the surrounding area. Breakfast was provided, but we checked out before it was served.

Noisy
Best Western Plus a Wayfarer's Inn and SuitesThe room itself was clean and there was no carpet on the floor. There was a very small grass area for dogs (unfortunately it was next to the smoking area). The night we stayed it was very loud and there were people drinking outside our room. Our dogs were very agitated from all of the noise, so we checked out early at 4am. I can’t speak to the breakfast because we left before it was served.
