Squalid
Historic Whispering Woods Hotel & Conference CenterAbout 12 years ago, Whispering Woods was a great find – set back on a rambling wooded property that our dachshunds could access directly from the room through sliding glass doors. It was clean enough, if a little dated. Sad to see the place has deteriorated beyond recognition.
Our pet-friendly room reeked of urine, and we would have gone somewhere else if we hadn’t arrived so late and exhausted. The smell was so offensive we could barely sleep. Bed linens were clean and new. Only one fan speed worked on the HVAC unit, which had been pulled out from the wall. The bolt on the sliding glass doors was bent so that once it was unbolted, it couldn't be bolted back without some tools. There were visible dust balls under the bed and a layer of dust along baseboards and other surfaces. The room floor was brown, so you couldn’t see how dirty it was – but you couldn’t miss the two dead flies and one dead cockroach. The bathroom floor needed scrubbing. One of the two bath towels was clean and bleached, if threadbare. The other was stained. In order to get light in the bathroom, I had to climb onto the counter and reach through the cobwebs in the light fixture to tap the fluorescent bulb. Outside, the grass was littered with cigarette butts and other trash. Twice I had to pull discarded chicken bones out of my dogs’ mouths. The parking lot smelled of human urine. I would suggest BringFido remove this place from its website.
