Great Place
Virginia Beach KOAWe have stayed in a pet-friendly cabin twice and everyone has been very welcoming! They do provide linens even in pet-friendly cabins which is great because some places we have stayed required we bring our own with pets. Lots of great places to walk the pups and waste stations were readily available. Please note the 4 person base cabin is very small even for 2 of us and 2 small dogs. The bed takes up almost all of the floor space in this “studio” style cabin so we would not recommend with a bigger dog especially. The larger premium 6 person cabin provided a separate living area and room for the pups to move around. Beds aren’t super comfy but being able to have the pups welcomed and with us made it a great choice.

Not bad, but better options
The DryDock Seafood & SpiritsWe stopped here our first night on island after arriving too late to get a reservation anywhere. The outside area is all small pea gravel with some debris like leaves, sticks, and a few tiny weeds the dogs wanted to eat. There appeared to be an older dog bowl laying around but it was quite dirty and they didn’t offer water to the dogs besides what I ordered extra for them. The staff was nice and the fish and tater tots were really pretty good. I may have rated higher had we been inside and without the dogs but the outside tables had rust and bird droppings and overall the area wasn’t well kept. It seemed to be more of a place for patrons to come outside for a smoke than a true patio area.

Good food and good for the pups
Lucky Beach Bar + KitchenWe visited as our last stop as we headed off the island. It was lunchtime so lots of heat but the patio with shade and fans made for a comfortable place to dine with two pups. The waitress brought a cold bowl of water for our pups while we enjoyed some great mahi tacos with chips and salsa.

Great Stay with our Pup!
North Landing Beach RV Resort & CottagesCampground was very pet friendly. Our dog was allowed on the beach and able to walk throughout the campground on a leash. Lots of dogs were staying at the campground and waste stations were available in several areas. We stayed in a pet friendly cottage and found it clean and comfortable. These are cottages so don’t expect a luxury hotel, but we found them to be overall well cared for, well stocked with basics, and private. We will definitely stay again. You will have to bring your own sheets to a pet friendly cottage but that suited us fine. The 4 bone rating instead of 5 is only because their website is difficult to search for specific accommodations availability, and we had a slight problem with assessed charges versus what was shown due, but they quickly corrected the error.
