Second Worst Hotel I’ve Ever Stayed In

Norwood Inn & Suites North Conference Center

I was hoping for something decent.. this was worse. I wish I would’ve checked the Google reviews before booking. We stayed on the first floor and inspected the room upon arrival at ~7:00PM. The people at the front desk were nice, a new employee was being trained, they greeted us with a smile and helped us right away. Getting to the room, there were hairs in the tub, a stray pube on the toilet seat that was only hanging on by one hinge. Sink leaked underneath when running. We roomed with a couple of gnats that were probably feeding off the plastic tuna wrapper behind the tv stand. The tuna wrapped was accompanied by an empty diaper bag wrapper. There was a stink, plus the place could’ve used a dusting. Fingerprints on the table and nightstand so I wiped most stuff down with antibacterial. Did a better job than the cleaning person, as I was able to wipe away dirt with ease. Minor stains on the bed sheets, couple of hairs weaved in. The sheets smelled good though. The worst was the mold. There were two fairly large patches of mold on the carpet and a large blotch on the side of the tv stand. Easily wiped away, but very disgusting. I ended up just taking the ironing board and throwing it on the largest mold spot on the carpet so the dog wouldn’t sniff at it. We woke up with sore throats. When leaving and entering the building, some young folks hung outside, I went to use my key card on the outside door and the young man informed me if I just yanked hard enough, I could get the door open. It worked. There were cameras, but none on the side of the building of the main entrance. Breakfast was above average. It was hot and fresh, make your own waffles and breakfast sandwiches (no bacon only sausage patties). I would never recommend this hotel or ever stay here again. Originally I gave them 2 stars, but I edited my review after staying in an average hotel and being able to compare.

Pros:
Plenty o’ parking
Nice front desk staff
Slightly above average breakfast
Fridge worked
Toilet flushed
AC stayed cold
Clean towels
Keycard normally worked

Cons:
Hairs on toilet and in tub
Broken toilet seat
Stained sheets
Stained walls
Odor
Gnats
Trash in room
Unclean surfaces
Unsecured WiFi (but free)
Mold, mold, mold

A Pleasure to Stay Here

Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Waterloo

Greeted by some of the friendliest staff! They helped us right away, they seemed like genuinely nice people. They’ll give you a rules sheet for your pet staying there, all very reasonable rules to follow. It was a bit complicated to find the hotel, but the parking lot is well lit and has plenty of spots. We inspected the room upon entry, I was very impressed with the cleanliness. No fingerprints were visible on any surfaces. There were extra towels and clean sheets. Wonderful water pressure and the softest water I’ve ever experienced. Now, the whole hotel and room had quite an outdated appearance, in that some hallways had wood paneling that was a hit decades ago, but that didn’t deter my welcome. All of the appliances worked and were far newer. Got takeout for dinner and didn’t get silverware, so we stopped at the front desk to ask for some. The lady was eager to help and grabbed some from the dining area. Breakfast was above average and ready before the time they said it’d be served. Overall, my stay was great, dog didn’t mind this hotel.

Pros:
Awesome staff
Clean surfaces, sheets, towels
Heat lamp in bathroom
Appliances worked great
Ample parking
Above average breakfast

Cons:
Bit hard to find
