Spacious room
Staybridge Suites Elkhart an IHG HotelThere was plenty of space for all of our road trip gear and dog stuff. The room was clean and well maintained and the hotel was quiet. Oddly, we got a call from the front desk at 6am because the people in the room below us complained about the noise we made while packing to leave in the morning. We were literally whispering to each other and the only noise we made was walking across the squeaky floor - we didn't turn on the tv or even shower before we left. It was a little annoying that the desk decided to make the call without investigating first.
Unfortunate Choice
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Merrillville InSadly, this hotel doesn't deserve even the one bone rating I'm forced to give it in order to submit a review of our experience. The place is filthy, it stinks, it was noisy until past 2am, and it had roaches. Once I saw the roaches in the bathroom at about 1:30 am I was unable to sleep and waited until 4 to start packing the car so my wife could sleep. We got out as early and as quickly as possible.
Sooo Good!
Clyde's Fine DinerWe found Clyde's Fine Diner on the Bring Fido app and selected it after a review of the menu. On cross country trips, we have been willing to settle for less than stellar places that welcome our pooch, so this place was like finding hidden treasure. It was a chilly morning and I'm not even sure they were planning to open the patio, but when they saw us out front waiting for the restaurant to open, they set a table outside and put a bowl of water out for the girl. The food is excellent and so is the service. Loved the Brussels Caesar. The mojo pork sandwich is maybe the best tasting mojo criollo pork I've ever had. And the CBJ sandwich is the work of a beneficent wizard. I hope we get back again soon. (Consider heaters on the patio)
