Perfect Stay

Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, an IHG Hotel

We recently stayed at Kimpton while on a road trip from Texas and needed a place that allowed our 1 year old pup. We loved everything about this place. It is beautiful and the rooms were very large and spacious. It was perfect for our pup to run around. We were far enough from the elevator where our dog was not disturbed by constant noise so that was great. I was also very happy on how clean the whole room was. It was so nice and the bed was very comfortable. It did not seem like they had "pet rooms" as some hotels do. Those rooms usually, in my opinion aren't as clean. The staff was very friendly. Our first night we didn't arrive till 1AM due to road closures, the staff welcomed us with a smile and complimentary drinks. It was refreshing considering the night we had. They do take a deposit fee at check in. It was returned about 4 days after our stay to our bank.

We had read the reviews on this website and other platforms and were concerned about the self parking lot. It actually was not bad and the whole area was pretty well lit. We arrived late and it never felt unsafe. We downloaded the app for it and it ended up being way cheaper than the hotel valet. Just be mindful of the hours you select depending on your arrival and checkout the prices can be tricky for small amount of hours: 0-3 is $18, 4-9 is $24, and 10-24 is $40. Another concern we read about in the reviews was the dog relief areas. While yes, there is only one patch of grass located in a median near the hotel, there are some other larger areas your dog can go. Our dog is not picky on his potty spots so the large mulch and bush area connected to the self parking lot was a perfect place for him. He was able to walk around the perimeter of the parking lot and we took him there every time.

The hotel allows you to leave your pet in the room unattended as long as they are well behaved and receive no complaints. They will take your number and call you if anything happens. We left our pup one night and it was a great way to get out on the town and even enjoy the hotels gorgeous bar/lounge. During our stay we also saw plenty of pets around and you could barely hear any in the halls of the rooms. Hotel is perfect walking distance from most places. It was about a 14min walk to bourbon street. We will definitely be staying here again! Had a fantastic time.

Beautiful Place

Cafe Amelie

This place was a courtyard of paradise. We made a reservation the day before for brunch and it took less than 2 minutes to seat us. As soon as they did someone brought a small water bowl for our pup. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the collards and eggs and my boyfriend had the chicken and waffles. I would recommend both. We also shared the gulf shrimp and grits which was so yummy. The service was amazing. our waitress was so sweet. Be mindful of the weather when bringing your dog. They don't have any covered areas outside and I'm not sure they allow dogs in their small dine in area. We were lucky that rain was coming during our brunch but it started as soon as we paid the bill and got up to leave. Not sure where they would have put us otherwise. I believe they turned other dog owners away as they knew rain was coming but that's just a guess.

Super cute space

Cafe Beignet

Very dog friendly, super cute space. We read reviews on other sites about this being better and less crowded than cafe du monde. We decided to try it since we didn't want to wait in that iconic crazy line, especially with a puppy. Beignets were great and fresh. It was my first time trying beignets so I don't have much to compare it to, but they were warm and doughy. We also tried the cafe au lait and it was very good. No line at all when we went but it also had been raining.
