Fresh Air
Motel 6 Roseburg OrThis Motel 6 was a breath of fresh air after the previous one we stayed in. The staff was courteous, room entries are indoors, it's clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had been upgraded. All in all maybe the best Motel 6 in which we've stayed.
Tweakerville
Motel 6 Stockton CA - NorthI have never felt more unsafe in a hotel. All entrances to the stairways were blocked by people wanting to know if we needed "anything". They were also dealing out of the rooms to cars on the street. The hotel itself is way outdated. The beds had worn out mattresses and the shower squealed like a banshee. If there is a website for tweaker hotels, this one should be near the top of the list.
Good & Bad
Motel 6 Grants Pass OrI checked in at shift change. The guy leaving was happy to be going as he watched the check-ins piling up at the door. The new guy was pleasant and efficient. He handled the phones at the same time he checked us in. My reservation was as promised. I was disappointed that my prepaid reservation was $20/night higher than the people in the identical room next to us who checked in prior to me. I know it's hard to continually monitor cleanliness in a place that allows pets, but having to step around unidentifiable blobs on both the sidewalk and parking lot overnight was disturbing. The room was clean, quiet and met our needs. The beds were comfortable and they had good tv coverage. We were there under a blanket of smoke, but the ventilation in our room kept it outside.
Sketchy area
La Quinta Inn by Wyndham StocktonAn old La Quinta. The staff were pleasant and check-in went smoothly (even if they wouldn't allow 1 hour early check in). Our room was away from traffic noise. I saw security personnel patrolling property three time in our overnight. There was also a homeless encampment in the trees next to the property. Our room wasn't fancy, but it was a good price and met our needs.
