This volunteer should not be working at this park!

Rebecca Weitsman Memorial Dog Park

A certain volunteer is now under investagation for an incident that happened yesterday. (September 7,2021).
We thought it was unusal when arriving there was only a man and a woman there with their dogs. Upon arriving at the gate, an unruly dog came up to the fence as we were trying to enter and proceeded to growl and bite my dog thru the fence. We stood there waiting for either the man sitting down or the woman standing there to call of their dog. Nothing. The woman literally stood there and watched her dog, she did not call him, approach or intervene in any way. We finally entered the park and our dog walked over to the unruly dog. She wanted to play, and unfortunately she only had 2 dogs to choose from. Within a minute the dog started attacking my dog. Now mind you, my dog is a 100 pound German Shepard who could clearly have harmed this dog if she wanted too. After about a minute, my dog got fed up with it and started growling. We then grabbed her vest, which we kept on assuming after the behavior of the unruly dog at the gate, and this is what floored me the most. I looked over at the lady and asked her to get her dog. She simply stood there and watched. When i asked her again to come and contain her dog, this is when the man sitting on the bench, "THE VOLUNTEER" stated how dare you come in here and start giving order's. We did not know at this time he was a volunteer and told him "We are trying to contain an almost definite dog fight if this lady does not contain her dog. What is the most upsetting is knowing this lady intentionally put her dog in harm's way but allowing him or her to attack another dog and did absolutely nothing about it. We now know these two obviously know each other and when her dog first attacked at the gate, she did nothing know the volunteer would not ask her or her dog to leave. She does not belong in a dog park, she needs to take the time and realize her dog needs training and socializing. This volunteer on the other hand should not in any way be volunteering at a dog park, least of all thinking he "runs the place". He allowed a woman to put not only her dog in jeapordy but the well being of another dog in jeapordy as well. Very unprofessional to say the least. I have contacted the manager of Hickories Park who has informed me to contact the President of O Dog to further investigate this. I have been informed to call him back with the details. We will be at the park video taping these two. If anyone has had aproblems with this particular volunteer, please let us know. Thanks everyone, let's try to keep the bored, unprofessional people home and get some volunteer's in there that truly belong there.
