Dog Events in Blacksburg, VA

This dog-friendly fundraiser invites guests to walk a 1.3-mile section of the Tanglewood Festival of Lights with leashed dogs, family and friends before the display opens to the public. Visitors can enjoy a food truck rodeo, shop with local vendors, and support the Humane Society of Davie County’s low-cost spay/neuter clinic, adoption program and community pet food pantry. Advance tickets are required for a designated entry time, and retractable leashes aren't permitted. All attendees must use the back gate entrance of Tanglewood off of Idols Road.

Bring Fido to this fun, annual event featuring a 1-mile fun run for kids, followed by the 10K walk/run and 5K races. Four-legged pacesetters can run with their owners in either of the races. A turkey and trophy will be awarded to the top male & female in the 5K and 10K.

Bring your furry friends and watch them strike adorable poses with Santa! You'll receive a printed copy of your professional photo to take home and an edited copy sent digitally after the event.

You and your pup are invited to this special event that will feature a delicious Thanksgiving meal (turkey, gravy and all the fixings) and dinner activities. Each ticket includes your meal and a drink voucher. Humans must be at least 21 years old to attend. Dogs must be registered with a membership; day passes are available. Limited tickets are available, so be sure to get yours early!

This family- and dog-friendly holiday celebration kicks off the season with games, live music, caroling, hot chocolate and visits with Santa. The town is illuminated during the festivities, and the celebration is followed the next morning by the annual Christmas Parade along Main Street!

Celebrate the holiday season with Fido at this festive Christmas Tree Lighting! The event begins at 5:30 PM, with live performances leading up to the tree lighting at 6:20 PM.

The City of Roanoke Christmas Parade begins on Jefferson Street at Elm Avenue, turning onto Campbell Avenue, going past Market Square, and ending at Williamson Road. The parade is rain or shine and starts at 6:30 PM.

On select Monday nights this holiday season (November 23, November 30, December 7 and December 14), bring Fido for a photo with Santa! Visits are free; professional photo packages will be available for purchase. No exotic pets, please. The event is hosted by Holly Hill Photography. Black Dog Salvage has invited guest vendors to set up and sell their wares for the day! Leashed dogs are invited to this fun event featuring a food, live music, art, jewelry, vintage items, plants, baked goods, wine, greenery, and more. All items for sale from guest vendors will be hand-made or upcycled. The Roanoke Valley SPCA will also be on site.

Experience the magic of the holidays with Fido! Visitors receive a free 4x6 photo with Santa. Other photo packages are available for purchase. Reservations are highly recommended and can go quickly. Hours vary by store.

Bring Fido to stroll through Blowing Rock and see all the gorgeous ice sculptures during Blowing Rock WinterFest! Artisan Ice Sculptures is one of only five Master Ice Carvers in the United States. A dozen ice sculptures will be on display in front of businesses in town. Please note that the duration of the ice art is dependent on the weather.

If you're attending the Blowing Rock WinterFest with Fido, don't miss the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Chetola Lake! Leashed dogs are welcome as spectators to watch brave human participants take a daring dip into icy waters. Spend the weekend in a dog-friendly room on site at Chetola Resort! The plunge starts at 10 AM and plungers must be checked-in by 9:30 AM.

Bring Fido to the Village of Blowing Rock to celebrate the fun side of winter at this annual event! Activities throughout the weekend include the WinterPaws Dog Show, ice carvings at the Artisan Ice Stroll, an icy Polar Bear Plunge in Chetola Lake, a winter beer garden, and more. Not all activities are dog friendly, so be sure to inquire first before bringing Fido.
