Could have been better
Golden Nugget LaughlinFirst the pros: Easy check in. Easy access to room from parking garage. Nice room situated on the ground floor facing the courtyard with a patio and sliding door to pet relief area. Room was as expected for a pet room. Slight pet urine smell in bathroom but not too bad. Beds were comfortable.
Cons: After booking a King room, I was informed by email while driving to Laughlin that the Golden Nugget only has two queen pet rooms, no King rooms. Not a huge deal just not what I booked. In room coffee machine not working. It appeared that a previous guest had put coffee in the water holder and not cleaned it out. Obviously the coffeemaker had not been cleaned or even looked at by housekeeping.
At 9:30 the day we were leaving, we took a load to our truck, leaving our senior pet and one suitcase in the room. Checkout is 11am. We had breakfast and returned to the room to retrieve our pet and remaining suitcase & our keys didn’t work. At 10:58am we gave up on the keys and I went to the front desk and was told that they demagnetize the keys at 11 unless you have a 12 o’clock checkout. I told them I was at my room at 10:58, they gave me another key. We went back to room, retrieved our pet and suitcase and before we could leave the room, and I’m talking minutes, there was a knock at our door asking us if we were checking out. I would have been out by 11am if they hadn’t demagnetized my key before checkout. Left a bad taste in my mouth for the Golden Nugget.
