Seen better days
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Downtown Conference CenterArriving in the room, we found nicely made beds in fresh sheets, but there was no toilet paper or tissue in the bathroom. In addition, the paint was peeling from the floor boards, the floors had not been thoroughly cleaned, and even worse the trash had not been emptied!
After walking the dogs, I went to the front desk to ask for toilet paper, tissues and a new liner for the trash can. After waiting 10 minutes for the front desk agent to return I was handed the toilet paper and a few liners for an ice bucket with a half-hearted apology that tissues wouldn’t be delivered until the following Monday.
We were unimpressed so far, but the worst was yet to come. The walls between rooms were thin, and the dogs could hear people moving and talking all night long. This kept them restless, and their people were kept up as well. When we left for our walk the next morning, the dogs refused to go back into the room. Thankfully we had already packed and just bolted for the elevator as quickly as we could. Not sure we will ever stay at another La Quinta again even if promised a free night’s stay for the doggos.
Excellent downtown doggie haven
The Westin Memphis Beale StreetEasy checkin, friendly staff and a clean spacious room were a great start to a restful night. The bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet even though there were guests staying in adjacent rooms. The lobby and rooms were modern and nicely appointed, and even though we didn’t take advantage of it, the hotel is really convenient to Beale Street and local restaurants. Great stopover on a cross country drive from Houston to Chicago. Wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone with dogs!
