Lavender Farms to Visit With Fido

Posted by Kaitlyn Coons

If Fido needs a relaxing country getaway this summer, there’s no need to book a flight to Provence, France, for him to enjoy a lavender farm. There are pet-friendly farms throughout the U.S. that welcome you and your pup to pick this aromatic plant. And, of course, there are plenty of opportunities to snap a few pictures.

The "peak of purpleness" for visiting Pelindaba Lavender Farm is from the beginning of July through the end of August. You and your pup are free to walk the lavender fields and pick stems in the cutting garden. While you're on the farm, be sure to check out over 200 lavender products sold on-site (including a pet product line!), visit the Demonstration Garden and Essential Oil Distillery, and buy your own lavender plants to bring home from the nursery.

After a long day in the fields, salty sea dogs can get their fix of nautical fun without stepping a paw off dry land at The Wayfarers Rest.

At Loess Hills Lavender Farm, you and your pup can wander around the rows of plants and pick your own flowers from the fields by the stem. Their lavender blooms from mid-June through September. Loess Hills offers other products in the barn, such as farm-made lavender fudge, tea, spices, and lotion.

Playing on-leash at the farm is great fun, but Fido may also need to let loose before bedtime. This nearby Omaha home has a fully fenced backyard for zoomies.
