My husband and I are 68 and 61, respectively. We enjoy traveling more when we can take our dogs! Our four-legged kids are Shiloh (9 year old Hovawart), Maggie (7 year old Keeshond) and Merlin (10 month old Border Collie).

Good Price
Quality Inn Christiansburg - BlacksburgFront desk staff were polite and helpful. LOTS of good, grassy area to walk pups. Within easy driving distance of places to eat.
Clean and Comfortable
Econo Lodge Inn and Suites DicksonPolite, friendly front desk staff is always a plus, and goes a long way toward booking at the same place again. Clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. Would definitely stay there again.
Clean and Comfortable
Days Inn by Wyndham WythevilleWe've stayed there before, so coming back again says it all! Good price and convenient location.
Clean, Comfortable, Convenient
Days Inn by Wyndham LonokeGreat value for a reasonable price! We stayed only overnight, but if we are ever in the neighborhood for any length of time, would definitely stay here again. The lady who checked us in was efficient and polite. Our room was clean and the bed was VERY comfy. There's plenty of room in a nice grassy area for the pups to walk and take care of business. This should not be considered a detraction; just a heads-up: there were several large fire ant nests in various locations around the perimeter of the property. But the property is well lit at night and they are easily seen even in the dark.
Helpful Staff, Comfortable Room
Ramada by Wyndham MurfreesboroCheck in process was efficient and the front desk staff friendly. The lady who took care of housekeeping was attentive, so friendly and welcoming. She made a special trip back to our room to bring an item she didn't have on her cart when she came by the first time. She was also really nice to our people-skittish Border Collie. My husband left his Kindle in our room and we didn't realize it until we were most of the way back to Oklahoma. I called the next morning - they had the Kindle and were so helpful in arranging to have it shipped to us. We would absolutely stay there again. The only downside is that the motel is on a very busy four-lane street - very hard to make a left turn out of the parking lot. A small thing, though, when the service was so great!
Easy Access From I-40
Best Western Thunderbird MotelFriendly and welcoming desk staff, a big plus for us! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Would stay there again! Our only issue was that the area for dogs to potty is not very well lit.
Good Location and Clean Rooms
Motel 6 Bristol VAThe rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. No coffee pot or complimentary shampoo, but perfectly OK with us, since we never travel without a coffee maker and I prefer to use my own shampoo. There's a large grassy area for pups to take care of business. We will definitely stay there any time we are going to or through Bristol. Can't beat it for the price!
Good Location and Clean
Quality Inn Forrest City I-40Front desk staff helpful and friendly. Clean room and comfortable bed. All size dogs accepted!
Inexpensive and Clean
Super 8 by Wyndham Lexington VAThe room was clean and the bed comfortable. There's a good area for pups to potty. Our room was on the third floor, and there is no elevator, but not a big deal because it was for only one night. Overall, basic, clean motel and accept large dogs.
Would Stay There Again!
Courtyard by Marriott JacksonThe front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, and offered our pup a treat. Nice touch on the check-in form: asks for your pet's name and type of pet. This must be a fairly popular stop for dog people; seems like every other guest was traveling with dogs! Our room was comfortable and attractive. The only downside was that the restaurant and bar are closed on weekends (when lots of people travel), but that could have been COVID safety measure. In fairness, we had eaten earlier, but a nightcap would have been great after the drive! Overall, great place to stay.
Basic Interstate Motel
Quality Inn SouthWe stayed overnight on our way to Colorado, so can't really give much feedback. But I will say that that the staff was wonderful and welcoming. The AC unit switch was reversed and we thought it wasn't working at all. The maintenance worker came to the room and fixed us right up! Good areas for pups in the back of the building.
Clean with Friendly Staff
Travelodge by Wyndham Loveland/Fort Collins AreaThe staff at the front desk were efficient and very nice. The room was very basic, but clean. A little pricey for what you get, but everything in Loveland is expensive. My main issue was the "grassy area" I was told was available for dogs. No grass whatsoever...only a curbside strip filled with river rock, overgrown with weeds, many of which had stickers. Dogs of all sizes allowed. Would have given three bones if there had been a better place to potty the pup.
Do Not Stay at This Place!
Travelodge by Wyndham RoanokeIf it were possible to give zero bones, I would do that. This place is in terrible condition. The furniture in our room was broken or had with torn upholstery, the bedding was badly worn, the baseboards were pulling away from crumbling drywall in places, and the tile on the shower ledge was coming loose in chunks. The floor was dirty and the air conditioner barely worked. Had we not arrived late and exhausted, we would not have stayed. Just slept a few hours and left. The only good thing that can be said is that the motel is, as advertised, dog friendly.
Basic Interstate Motel
Days Inn by Wyndham DicksonThe lady at check-in was pleasant and polite. The room was clean, with the exception of the carpet. Not much grassy area room for pup potty calls. Good for overnight stay and good price.
Clean and Comfortable
Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham WynneOur stay was overnight only, and arrived later than expected, so were there only long enough to sleep and hit the road early. A little off the beaten path, but the motel was clean, the bed comfortable and the location quiet. The housekeeping lady was very pleasant and friendly to our dog. The best feature, from a dog's point of view, is plenty of grassy area around the facility; more than enough room for an off-leash romp before another long day of travel.
